Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study
A comparative study of various modalities in the treatment of keloids.
Treatment of keloids is a challenge as a result of paucity of effective treatment modalities, significant side effects, and their recurrent nature. In this study, various treatment modalities were compared to search for a treatment option with maximum efficacy and minimum side effects. ⋯ Intralesional triamcinolone acetonide, intralesional triamcinolone acetonide with hyaluronidase, and intralesional radiofrequency with triamcinolone acetonide are effective modalities for the treatment of keloids. However, intralesional triamcinolone acetonide with hyaluronidase fares better than other two as far as safety is concerned with least side effects.

Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation for chronic post-herpetic neuralgia.
Postherpetic neuralgia remains a therapeutic challenge for the clinician. Many modalities have been utilized with limited success. In this pilot randomized study of patients who were refractory to previous medicinal treatment, the patients were treated with transcutaneous nerve stimulation with a biofeedback capability. ⋯ The true device was chosen over the sham device by all patients. The majority of these patients treated by the true device reported a statistically significant decrease in pain scores (P < 0.001). Further investigation of this Food and Drug Administration, class 2 accepted, electronic device for relief of pain is warranted for patients with a history of recalcitrant postherpetic neuralgia.

Clinical effectiveness and safety of cetirizine versus rupatadine in chronic spontaneous urticaria: a randomized, double-blind, 6-week trial.
Urticaria is a distressing condition associated with diverse clinical presentations. Chronic spontaneous urticaria (CsU) is characterized by wheals and angioedema. Its treatment requires an algorithmic approach to identify the optimum medication. ⋯ Improvements in MTSS, MNW, size of wheals, intensity of erythema, and differential eosinophil count imply that rupatadine is a particularly attractive therapeutic modality compared with cetirizine for the treatment of CsU.

Assessment of the safety and efficacy of three concentrations of topical ivermectin lotion as a treatment for head lice infestation.
Ivermectin is a broad-spectrum parasiticide in widespread systemic use, including as an off-label treatment for head lice infestation. The potential of the topical use of ivermectin as a treatment for head lice infestation was suggested by an in vitro report of a novel lotion formulation. ⋯ A single application of a 0.5% concentration of this ivermectin lotion formulation shows promise as a safe and effective treatment for head lice infestation and the associated signs of pruritus.
