Randomized Controlled Trial
Randomized evaluation of fluid resuscitation with crystalloid (saline) and colloid (polymer from degraded gelatin in saline) in pediatric septic shock.
To compare the efficacy of crystalloid (Normal saline) and colloid (polymer from degraded Gelatin in saline Haemaccel) intravenous fluid in restoration of circulating volume in children with septic shock. ⋯ Both normal saline and gelatin polymer solution were equally effective as resuscitation fluid with respect to restoration of plasma volume and hemodynamic stability. Normal saline upto 110 mL/kg, and gelatin polymer solution upto 70 mL/kg may be required in first hour for successful fluid resuscitation of septic shock in children.

Metered dose inhaler with spacer versus dry powder inhaler for delivery of salbutamol in acute exacerbations of asthma: a randomized controlled trial.
Delivery of various drugs by aerosol inhalation is the mainstay of treatment of asthma. Many delivery systems have been developed for children, each having its own advantages and disadvantages. Studies comparing the clinical efficacy of metered dose inhalers (MDI) and dry powder inhalers (DPI) in the treatment of acute exacerbations of asthma in children are limited. We conducted a study to compare the response to salbutamol inhalation delivered by metered dose inhaler with a spacer versus rotahaler (DPI) in children presenting with mild or moderate acute exacerbations of asthma. ⋯ Metered dose inhaler with spacer and dry powder inhaler have equal efficacy in delivering salbutamol in therapy of mild to moderate acute exacerbations of bronchial asthma in children between 5-15 years of age.

Impact of daily versus weekly hematinic supplementation on anemia in pregnant women.
To compare the effectivity of weekly versus daily iron therapy in reducing maternal anemia and to evaluate the association of maternal hemoglobin and fetal growth. ⋯ Weekly iron supplementation is an effective mode of treating anemia among pregnant women and maternal anemia during pregnancy is adversely associated with fetal growth.

Randomized Controlled Trial Clinical Trial
Effect of delayed cord clamping on iron stores in infants born to anemic mothers: a randomized controlled trial.
To study the effects of cord clamping on iron stores of infants born to anemic mothers at 3 months of age. ⋯ Iron stores and Hb in infancy can be improved in neonates born to anemic mothers by delaying cord clamping at birth.

Midazolam sedation in mechanically ventilated newborns: a double blind randomized placebo controlled trial.
To determine efficacy of midazolam as a sedative in mechanically ventilated newborns. ⋯ Sedation provided by continuous infusion of midazolam and morphine appears to be comparable to morphine alone in newborn babies on mechanical ventilation, with no significant adverse effects. The course of mechanical ventilation is not influenced by use of midazolam.
