Review Meta Analysis
Efficacy of short course (<4 days) of antibiotics for treatment of acute otitis media in children: a systematic review of randomized controlled trials.
To determine the efficacy of a short course of antibiotics (<4 days) in comparison to a longer course (>4 days) for the treatment of acute otitis media in children. ⋯ There is no evidence of an increased risk of treatment failure with short course of antibiotics for acute otitis media. Among the short course regimens, azithromycin use was associated with a lower risk of treatment failure while short acting oral antibiotics and parenteral ceftriaxone may be associated with a higher risk of treatment failure.

Meta Analysis
Intermittent or daily short course chemotherapy for tuberculosis in children: meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials.
To compare the effectiveness of intermittent with daily chemotherapy (both containing rifampicin) in childhood tuberculosis (age 16yrs) in achieving cure significant improvement. ⋯ Twice weekly intermittent short course therapy is less likely to cure tuberculosis in children as compared to daily therapy. There is a need for better quality randomized controlled trials for assessing efficacy of alternate schedule for intermittent therapy for childhood tuberculosis.

Review Meta Analysis
Safety of oral use of nimesulide in children: systematic review of randomized controlled trials.
Nimesulide has been widely used to treat fever in children. Due to reports of adverse drug reactions, discontinuation or modification of its use has been suggested. ⋯ Oral nimesulide is as safe or unsafe as other analgesics-antipyretics for short-term use (less than or equal to 10 d) in children. The drug is best avoided in known or suspected liver disease; caution is warranted while prescribing nimesulide concomitantly with other hepatotoxic drugs. There is limited data for drawing concrete inferences below the age of six months.
