Observational StudyClinical conditions and echocardiographic parameters associated with mortality in COVID-19.
Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a recently recognized viral infective disease which can be complicated by acute respiratory stress syndrome (ARDS) and cardiovascular complications including severe arrhythmias, acute coronary syndromes, myocarditis and pulmonary embolism. The aim of the present study was to identify the clinical conditions and echocardiographic parameters associated with in-hospital mortality in COVID-19. ⋯ TTE might be a useful tool in risk stratification of patients with COVID-19. In particular, reduced LVEF and reduced TAPSE may help to identify patients at higher risk of death during hospitalization.

IFN-γ+ cell response and IFN-γ release concordance after in vitro SARS-CoV-2 stimulation.
Healthcare workers (HCWs) are at increased risk since they are directly exposed to SARS-CoV-2-infected patients, and nevertheless, some remain without the development of anti-SARS-CoV-2 antibodies or related symptoms, suggesting less susceptibility to the infection. ⋯ The good concordance between the proportion of individuals with IFN-γ release after SARS-COV-2 stimulation with the proportion of individuals with specific IFN-γ+ CD8/CD4 T cells found in this study drives IFN-γ release assays to be a simple and easy way to determine the protective immunity to SARS-CoV-2 in a wide population.

Observational StudyPrognostic value of haemoglobin drop in patients with acute coronary syndromes.
The prognostic value of in-hospital haemoglobin drop in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) undergoing invasive therapy remains insufficiently investigated. ⋯ In patients with ACS, in-hospital haemoglobin drop was associated with higher risk of one-year mortality even in the absence of overt bleeding.

Observational StudyA host transcriptomic signature for identification of respiratory viral infections in the community.
Fever-7 is a test evaluating host mRNA expression levels of IFI27, JUP, LAX, HK3, TNIP1, GPAA1 and CTSB in blood able to detect viral infections. This test has been validated mostly in hospital settings. Here we have evaluated Fever-7 to identify the presence of respiratory viral infections in a Community Health Center. ⋯ Fever-7 is a promising host immune mRNA signature for the early identification of a respiratory viral infection in the community.

Predictive model for atrial fibrillation in hypertensive diabetic patients.
Several scores to identify patients at high risk of suffering atrial fibrillation have been developed. Their applicability in hypertensive diabetic patients, however, remains uncertain. Our aim is to develop and validate a diagnostic predictive model to calculate the risk of developing atrial fibrillation at five years in a hypertensive diabetic population. ⋯ The model accurately predicts future atrial fibrillation in a population with both diabetes and hypertension. Early detection allows the prevention of possible complications arising from this disease.
