The urotensin-II receptor: a marker for staging and steroid outcome prediction in ulcerative colitis.
Urotensin-II receptor- (UTR) related pathway exerts a key-role in promoting inflammation. The aim was to assess the relationship between UTR expression and clinical, endoscopic and biochemical severity of ulcerative colitis (UC), exploring its predictivity of intravenous (iv) steroid administration therapeutic outcome. ⋯ UTR represents a promising inflammatory marker related to clinical, endoscopic, and histological disease activity as well as a predictive marker of steroid administration therapeutic outcome in the UC context.

Psoriasis is a classic chronic recurrent inflammatory skin disease characterized by skin inflammation and abnormal biological behaviour of keratinocytes. Although Signal Transducer And Activator Of Transcription 2 (STAT2) was found to play an important role in the Janus kinase (JAK)-STAT signalling pathway and contribute to the pathogenesis of psoriasis, its exact role in psoriasis remains unclear. ⋯ In summary, STAT2 overexpression contributes to psoriasis progression by regulating Capase3 phosphorylation to induce excessive apoptosis of keratinocytes. Meanwhile, STAT2 and Capase3 were identified as promising biomarkers for the diagnosis and treatment of psoriasis and could be used for individualized treatments.

Global, regional, and national burden of alopecia areata and its associated diseases, 1990-2019: a systematic analysis of the Global Burden of Disease Study 2019.
No study to date has concomitantly reported the global burden of alopecia areata (AA) and its associated diseases. ⋯ The burden of AA was prominent in females, young adults, high sociodemographic countries and North Americans. The study corroborates sex- and region-specific implications and public health measures for AA and its associated burdens. These epidemiological data on AA burden can guide future research efforts, prevention strategies and allocation of resources.

The miR-29 family members induce glioblastoma cell apoptosis by targeting cell division cycle 42 in a p53-dependent manner.
Emerging evidence has shown that miR-29 is a promising biomarker and therapeutic target for malignancies. The roles of miR-29a/b/c in glioma pathogenesis remain need further investigation. ⋯ miR-29a/b/c are independent predictors of prognosis in glioma patients. They induce glioblastoma cell apoptosis via silencing of CDC42 and suppression of downstream PAK/AKT/MDM2 signalling in a p53-dependent manner.

Review Meta AnalysisEffect of celecoxib plus standard chemotherapy on cancer prognosis:a systematic review and meta-analysis.
Inflammation is closely related to cancer prognosis. The effect of celecoxib, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug, on the prognosis of patients with cancer remains uncertain. To assess the association between celecoxib plus standard chemotherapy and cancer prognosis, we conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis of published studies. ⋯ The addition of celecoxib to standard chemotherapy did not improve OS or PFS rates of patients with cancer. Additionally, celecoxib can increase hematologic toxicity without increasing the risk of gastrointestinal or cardiovascular reactions. Further randomized controlled trials are necessary to clarify its effects and applications.
