Endovascular Aortic Repair Impact on Myocardial Contractility: A Prospective Study.
This study aimed to estimate if the altered sphygmic wave transmission may affect the left ventricular (LV) contractile function in patients undergoing endovascular aortic repair (EVAR). ⋯ Our data showed that EVAR induced an altered transmission of the sphygmic wave associated with an early LV contractile impairment.

Ramadan intermittent fasting reduces visceral fat and improves gastrointestinal motility.
Ramadan is a model of intermittent fasting linked with possible beneficial effects. Scarce information, however, is available about the combined effects of Ramadan intermittent fasting (RIF) on anthropometric and metabolic indices, gastrointestinal symptoms, and motility. ⋯ RIF generates, in healthy subjects, multiple systemic beneficial effects in terms of fat burden, metabolic profile, gastrointestinal motility and symptoms. Further comprehensive studies should assess the potential beneficial effects of RIF in diseased people.

Meta AnalysisPrognostic role of early prostate specific antigen changes after [177 Lu]Lu-PSMA radioligand therapy of metastasized prostate cancer: A meta-analysis.
Approximately 10%-20% of prostate cancers progress to metastatic and castration-resistant forms (mCRPC). Radioligand (RLT) therapy with [177 Lu]Lu-prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) is an emerging treatment for metastasized mCRPC and its efficacy is assessed not only but also by prostate specific antigen (PSA) measurement after 12 weeks or more after treatment. Our aim was to evaluate the role of early PSA measurement after RLT in predicting overall survival (OS) of mCRPC patients. ⋯ A PSA decline is observed in almost 50% of mCRPC patients after 1-2 [177 Lu]Lu-PSMA cycles, with a significantly longer OS compared to stable or increased PSA levels, respectively. Accordingly, any PSA decline after 1-2 cycles of therapy should be regarded as a favourable prognostic factor for OS.

Randomized Controlled TrialMobile health technology integrated care in atrial fibrillation patients with diabetes mellitus in China: A subgroup analysis of the mAFA-II cluster randomized clinical trial.
The Mobile Health Technology for Improved Screening and Optimized Integrated Care in AF (mAFA-II) prospective randomized trial showed the efficacy of a mobile health (mHealth) implemented 'Atrial fibrillation Better Care' (ABC) pathway for the integrated care management of patients with atrial fibrillation (AF). In this ancillary analysis, we evaluated the effect of mAFA intervention according to the history of diabetes mellitus (DM). ⋯ A mHealth-technology implemented ABC pathway showed a consistent effect in reducing the risk of the primary composite outcome in AF patients with and without DM.

Clinical Outcomes and Phylogenetic analysis in Reflection with Three Predominant Clades of SARS-CoV-2 Variants.
The pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has a broad spectrum of clinical manifestations. The severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) undergoes continuous evolution, resulting in the emergence of several variants. Each variant has a different severity and mortality rate. ⋯ There has been a surge in COVID-19 infection in the city due to the predominant lineages of SARS-CoV-2, B.1.617, Omicron BA.1.17.2 and Omicron BA.5.6, respectively. A higher PCR-Ct value and severity of the Delta variant over Omicron BA.1.17.2 and/or BA.5.2 variants were significantly correlated with a higher death rate in the same order.
