Glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist and basal insulin combination treatment for the management of type 2 diabetes: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
Combination treatment with a glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) agonist and basal insulin has been proposed as a treatment strategy for type 2 diabetes that could provide robust glucose-lowering capability with low risk of hypoglycaemia or weight gain. We thus did a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomised controlled trials to assess the effect of this combination treatment on glycaemic control, hypoglycaemia, and weight gain in patients with type 2 diabetes. ⋯ None.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter Study
Efficacy, safety, and immunogenicity of the human papillomavirus 16/18 AS04-adjuvanted vaccine in women older than 25 years: 4-year interim follow-up of the phase 3, double-blind, randomised controlled VIVIANE study.
Although adolescent girls are the main population for prophylactic human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccines, adult women who remain at risk of cervical cancer can also be vaccinated. We report data from the interim analysis of the ongoing VIVIANE study, the aim of which is to assess the efficacy, safety, and immunogenicity of the HPV 16/18 AS04-adjuvanted vaccine in adult women. ⋯ GlaxoSmithKline Biologicals SA.

Meta Analysis
Efficacy of β blockers in patients with heart failure plus atrial fibrillation: an individual-patient data meta-analysis.
Atrial fibrillation and heart failure often coexist, causing substantial cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. β blockers are indicated in patients with symptomatic heart failure with reduced ejection fraction; however, the efficacy of these drugs in patients with concomitant atrial fibrillation is uncertain. We therefore meta-analysed individual-patient data to assess the efficacy of β blockers in patients with heart failure and sinus rhythm compared with atrial fibrillation. ⋯ Menarini Farmaceutica Internazionale (administrative support grant).
