Vonoprazan is a potassium-competitive acid blocker (P-CAB). It is often used in Japan for Helicobacter pylori (H pylori) eradication, gastroesophageal reflux disease, and endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) ulcers and bleeding. This meta-analysis aims to evaluate whether vonoprazan has better therapeutic effect on ESD-induced ulcers and bleeding than proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) at different length of treatment periods (2, 4, and 8 weeks). ⋯ PROSPERO registration number: CRD42018116855.

The purpose of this meta-analysis was to compare the effectiveness and safety of cemented versus uncemented hemiarthroplasty for displaced femoral neck fractures. ⋯ The available evidence indicates that compared with uncemented hemiarthroplasty cemented hemiarthroplasty achieved better postoperative hip function, less postoperative, and interoperative fractures in displaced femoral neck fracture. Uncemented hemiarthroplasty achieved shorter operation time. There was no difference between the 2 groups with HHS at 1 year, mortality, and complications.

Tobramycin/dexamethasone eye drops as a better choice for lacrimal duct probing in persistent congenital nasolacrimal duct obstruction: A consort study.
Congenital nasolacrimal duct obstruction (CNLDO) is common and. lacrimal duct probing is the major treatment. But persistent CNLDO in older children makes the success rate rapidly decreased due to long-term chronic inflammation. To improve the success rate, probing combined with tobramycin/dexamethasone ointment is considered effective. But in practice, we found a lot of problems in using the ointment. So we tried tobramycin/dexamethasone eye drops as a replacement. The results is surprising, so we hope to do some further research in order to prove it is worth to clinical application. ⋯ Probing combined with tobramycin/dexamethasone eye drops was effective and easy-to-perform in the clinic, and it may be a better choice for persistent CNLDO.

Role of oral calcium supplementation alone or with vitamin D in preventing post-thyroidectomy hypocalcaemia: A meta-analysis.
Thyroidectomy is the main intervention for thyroid malignancies and some benign thyroid diseases. Its most common complication is hypocalcaemia, which requires oral or intravenous calcium therapy. The aim of this meta-analysis was to assess the efficacy of routine calcium supplementation with or without vitamin D in preventing hypocalcaemia post-thyroidectomy. ⋯ Postoperative calcium supplementation is effective for preventing post-thyroidectomy hypocalcaemia. Calcium plus vitamin D was more effective than calcium alone in preventing postoperative hypocalcaemia and decreasing the demand for intravenous calcium supplementation. Further, well-designed RCTs with larger sample sizes are required to validate our findings.

Efficacy and mechanism of acupuncture for ischemic poststroke depression: Study protocol for a multicenter single-blinded randomized sham-controlled trial.
Poststroke depression is a serious and common complication of stroke, especially the ischemic poststroke depression. Antidepressants are used in poststroke depression, and acupuncture may be an alternative approach. However, the efficacy and mechanism of acupuncture for poststroke depression has not been confirmed. ⋯ The present research is designed to investigate efficacy and mechanism of traditional acupuncture therapy on ischemic PSD, also to explore the correlation between cerebra metabolic and serologic factors, and ischemic PSD. With this research, we are looking forward to find out an appropriate alternative nondrug therapy for PSD people to alleviate the adverse effects and drug dependence caused by antidepressants.
