Role of oral calcium supplementation alone or with vitamin D in preventing post-thyroidectomy hypocalcaemia: A meta-analysis.
Thyroidectomy is the main intervention for thyroid malignancies and some benign thyroid diseases. Its most common complication is hypocalcaemia, which requires oral or intravenous calcium therapy. The aim of this meta-analysis was to assess the efficacy of routine calcium supplementation with or without vitamin D in preventing hypocalcaemia post-thyroidectomy. ⋯ Postoperative calcium supplementation is effective for preventing post-thyroidectomy hypocalcaemia. Calcium plus vitamin D was more effective than calcium alone in preventing postoperative hypocalcaemia and decreasing the demand for intravenous calcium supplementation. Further, well-designed RCTs with larger sample sizes are required to validate our findings.

Herbal medicine (Zhengan Xifeng Decoction) for essential hypertension protocol for a systematic review and meta-analysis.
Essential hypertension is one of the most common chronic diseases worldwide, as well as a leading risk factor for cardiocerebrovascular diseases. Zhengan Xifeng Decoction (ZGXFD) has been widely used to treat essential hypertension, but there is no systematic review by assessing efficacy and safety of ZGXFD on essential hypertension. Therefore, we aim to perform systematic review and meta-analysis to evaluate the efficacy and safety of ZGXFD in the treatment of essential hypertension. ⋯ This systematic review will determine whether or not ZGXFD is an effective intervention for essential hypertension.

Vonoprazan is a potassium-competitive acid blocker (P-CAB). It is often used in Japan for Helicobacter pylori (H pylori) eradication, gastroesophageal reflux disease, and endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) ulcers and bleeding. This meta-analysis aims to evaluate whether vonoprazan has better therapeutic effect on ESD-induced ulcers and bleeding than proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) at different length of treatment periods (2, 4, and 8 weeks). ⋯ PROSPERO registration number: CRD42018116855.

Meta Analysis Comparative Study
Efficacy and safety of norepinephrine versus phenylephrine for the management of maternal hypotension during cesarean delivery with spinal anesthesia: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
Phenylephrine is the current "gold standard' vasopressor used to treat maternal hypotension in women undergoing cesarean delivery with spinal anesthesia. Since 2015, various studies have explored the use of norepinephrine to manage maternal hypotension. We conducted this systematic review and meta-analysis of available randomized controlled trials (RCTs) to compare the efficacy and safety of norepinephrine and phenylephrine for the prevention and treatment of maternal hypotension. ⋯ This systematic review and meta-analysis shows norepinephrine provides similar efficacy to manage maternal hypotension compared to phenylephrine; additionally, showing advantage regarding certain side effects like bradycardia and IONV reduction. Accordingly, norepinephrine is a promising alternative to phenylephrine. However, before routine clinical application, more studies are warranted.
