Intranasal lidocaine for acute migraine: A protocol for the systematic review of randomized clinical trials.
Intranasal lidocaine has been shown to be effective in treating patients with acute migraines; however, its efficacy is still controversial. The aim of our study is to assess the efficacy and safety of intranasal lidocaine compared with a placebo or an active comparator for the treatment of acute migraine. ⋯ The findings of this systematic review will summarize the latest evidence of intranasal lidocaine for acute migraine. The results will provide implications for clinical practice and further research.Prospero registration number: CRD42018116226.

miRNAs and genes play significant roles in the etiology and pathogenesis of intervertebral disc degeneration (IDD). This study aimed to identify aberrantly expressed miRNAs, genes, and pathways in IDD through a comprehensive bioinformatics analysis. Data of miRNAs expression microarrays (GSE63492) and genes microarrays (GSE23130) were obtained from GEO database. ⋯ The top 10 central genes of PPI network were POTEE, PPP2CA, RPL17, HSP90AA1, POTEF, RPL13A, ACTB, RPL18, RPS24, and HSPA1A. In conclusion, our research proposed abnormally expressed miRNAs, genes, and pathways in IDD through bioinformatics methods, which may provide new insights into the pathogenesis of IDD. Thus, the Hub gene involving POTEE, PPP2CA, RPL17, HSP90AA1, POTEF, RPL13A, ACTB, RPL18, RPS24, and HSPA1A may be biomarkers for accurate diagnosis and treatment of IDD in the future.

Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disease characterized by recurrent attacks of breathlessness and wheezing, which often worsen at night or in the early morning and vary from person to person in severity and frequency. Sanao decoction (SAD), as a traditional Chinese medicine compound, has a long history of clinical application in the treatment of respiratory diseases. Whereas neither systematic nor meta-analysis of randomized controlled articles explain the efficacy of SAD in treating asthma. Therefore, we provide a protocol to evaluate the efficacy and safety of SAD for asthma. ⋯ PROSPERO CRD42018117923.

Case Reports
Diagnostic pitfalls of acute eosinophilic pneumonia in an adolescent boy following cigarette smoking: A case report.
Acute eosinophilic pneumonia (AEP) is characterized by acute febrile respiratory symptoms, bilateral lung infiltrates, and pulmonary eosinophilia. AEP is closely related to cigarette smoking but is rarely suspected in pediatric cases despite the fact that there is a relatively high incidence of cigarette smoking among adolescents in Taiwan. ⋯ With the increasing incidence of smoking amongst adolescents in Taiwan, careful history questioning regarding cigarette smoking is necessary. Due to similarities in initial clinical and radiographic features of AEP and CAP, adolescents with suspected CAP who are unresponsive to antibiotic treatment but have a subsequent rise in peripheral eosinophils should raise the clinician's suspicion of AEP related to cigarette smoking.

Multicenter Study
Validation of an individualized reduction of falls intervention program among wheelchair and scooter users with multiple sclerosis.
Falls are a serious concern for wheelchair and scooter users with multiple sclerosis (MS). Approximately, 75% of the population reports at least one fall in a 6-month period and nearly half report frequent falls. Falls can result in physical injuries and contribute to activity curtailment. Despite the negative consequences, limited evidenced-based fall prevention programs designed specifically for wheelchair and scooter users with MS exist. ⋯ Results from this study will guide the refinement of the intervention program and inform future research among a large and diverse group of wheelchair and scooter users living with MS.
