microRNAs have drawn more attention due to their function on the inflammatory process. The association between microRNA-21 (miR-21) expression and risk of inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) remain inconclusive. This study was aimed to acquire a more exact estimation of this relationship. ⋯ This meta-analysis demonstrates that the higher miR-21 expression in colon tissue is positively associated with the development of UC and CD, and miR-21 might serve as a disease marker of IBD.

Endotracheal intubation is an essential step for airway management during general anesthesia. When surgeons carry out thoracic surgery such as pneumonectomy, they usually request lung isolation to secure a clear surgical view. A double lumen endotracheal tube is used for lung isolation in routine thoracic surgeries. ⋯ This case led us to the conclusion that a DLT should be used for safety when carrying out thoracic surgery. We report a rare case of an airway obstruction using a SLT during pneumonectomy.

To examine the correlation of qualitative and quantitative dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCE-MRI) results with 95-gene classifier or Curebest 95-gene classifier Breast (95GC) results for recurrence prediction in estrogen receptor-positive breast cancer (ERPBC). This retrospective study included 78 ERPBC patients (age range, 24-74 years) classified into high- (n = 33) and low- (n = 45) risk groups for recurrence based on 95GC and who underwent DCE-MRI between July 2006 and November 2012. For qualitative evaluation, mass shape, margin, and internal enhancement based on BI-RADS MRI lexicon and multiplicity were determined by consensus interpretation by 2 breast radiologists. ⋯ For the quantitative data, the volume ratio of "medium" in the initial phase differed significantly between the 2 groups (P = .049). The volume ratio of "medium" (P = .006) and of "slow-persistent" (P = .005), and the delayed phase kurtosis (P = .012) in the univariate logistic regression analyses, and in the multiple logistic regression, volume ratio of "medium" >38.9% and delayed phase kurtosis >3.31 were identified as significant high-risk indicators (odds ratio, 5.83 and 3.55; 95% confidence interval, 1.58 to 21.42 and 1.24 to 10.15; P = .008 and P = .018, respectively). A high volume ratio of "medium" in the initial phase and/or high kurtosis in the delayed phase for quantitative evaluation could predict high ERPBC recurrence risk based on 95GC.

Observational Study
Egg consumption and risk of type 2 diabetes mellitus in middle and elderly Chinese population: An observational study.
Data on the association between egg consumption and the risk of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) in the Chinese population are scarce. In the present study, we aimed to examine the association between egg consumption and the risk of T2DM in a middle and elderly Chinese population. A total of 3298 subjects (1645 men and 1653 women) from the Nutrition and Health Survey (2015-2017) in Hangzhou city were selected for the final analysis. ⋯ The dose-response curve showed that, with the increase of egg consumption, the risk of T2DM first increased and then decreased (P = .027). We found that the association between egg consumption and T2DM was nonlinear, and higher egg consumption was not associated with an elevated risk for T2DM in middle-aged and elderly Chinese. However, future prospective studies are needed to confirm these findings.

Case Reports
Misplacement of the tunnel hemodialysis catheter through the left jugular vein to the azygos vein: A case report.
The percutaneous catheterization of central veins is widely applied in patients with end-stage renal diseases as a permanent vascular access. To our knowledge, inadvertent placement of a hemodialysis catheter into the azygos vein through the left internal jugular vein is not described. ⋯ The insertion of central vein catheterization is not always in suitable position especially through left jugular vein in hemodialysis patients. DSA technology should be performed to confirm the correct position of the tip and to ensure good blood flow.
