Comparative Study
Surgery vs non-surgery in cutaneous melanoma based on SEER database: A cross-sectional study.
This study was to assess the survival outcome of cutaneous melanoma (CM) patients with surgery vs non-surgery through inverse probability of treatment weighting (IPTW) using the propensity score. Patients diagnosed as CM were selected from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results Program (SEER) database. The survival outcome was estimated and compared by IPTW using the propensity score. ⋯ Compared with the non-surgery group, the surgery group had a lower risk of death in unmatched [hazard ratio (HR): 0.647, 95% confidence interval (CI): 0.509-0.821, P < .001] and matched (HR: 0.636, 95%CI: 0.459-0.882, P < .01) cohorts. In multivariate Cox model of IPTW-weighted cohort, the risk of death in the surgery group decreased notably than the non-surgery group (HR: 0.423, 95%CI: 0.383-0.468, P < .001). In conclusion, CM patients receiving surgical treatment are associated with a better survival outcome compared with those without surgical treatment through IPTW using the propensity score.

Previous epidemiological studies displayed that long non-coding RNA (LncRNA) polymorphisms are associated with an increased risk of coronary artery disease, while the results are inconsistent. Therefore, we conducted a meta-analysis to more accurately determine the association between LncRNA polymorphism and the risk of coronary artery disease. ⋯ DOI 10.17605/OSF.IO/9XPHS.

With the acceleration of the pace of life, the phenomenon of anxiety and depression in patients with coronary heart disease (CHD) is more and more common, and "psycho-cardiology" arises spontaneously. At present, the drug treatments of psycho-cardiology are difficult to achieve satisfactory results, and the side effects are obvious. Complementary and replacement therapies of CHD complicated with anxiety or depression disorder play an increasingly positive role, but there is a lack of comparison among different complementary and alternative therapies. In this study, Bayesian network meta-analysis (NMA) analysis method will be used for the first time to synthesize all the evidences of direct and indirect comparison among a variety of interventions, and rank their effectiveness and safety. ⋯ This review does not require ethical approval.

Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2D) and osteoporosis (OP) often coexist, and both are systemic metabolic diseases and seriously increase the risk of fragility fracture. However, there is no specific Western medicine for the treatment of T2D with OP (T2DOP). As reported in clinical and experimental studies, traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) based on principle of tonifying-kidney, strengthening-spleen, and invigorating blood circulation (Bushen-Jianpi-Huoxue) (BSJPHX) has significant efficacy against T2DOP. This protocol will be designed for a systematic review and meta-analysis to assess the efficacy and safety of TCM BSJPHX principle in the treatment of T2DOP. ⋯ CRD42020218877.

The survival benefit and safety of Impella support versus intra-aortic balloon counterpulsation (IABP) in patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) complicated by cardiogenic shock were investigated in several observational trials that revealed mixed results. Thus, in order to provide new evidence-based medical evidence for clinical treatment, we undertook a meta-analysis to assess the efficacy and safety of Impella versus IABP in AMI complicated by cardiogenic shock. ⋯ Ethical approval and patient consent are not required because this study is a literature-based study. This systematic review and meta-analysis will be published in a peer-reviewed journal.
