Reminiscence therapy exhibits alleviation of anxiety and improvement of life quality in postoperative gastric cancer patients: A randomized, controlled study.
Although reminiscence therapy alleviates mental illness and improves quality of life in neurocognitive disorders patients, little study reports its clinical application in cancer patients. Thus, this study aimed to explore the effect of reminiscence therapy on anxiety, depression, quality of life, and survival profile in postoperative gastric cancer patients. One hundred sixty surgical gastric cancer patients were enrolled in this randomized, controlled study, then randomly assigned to Reminiscence therapy group (N = 80) and Control group (N = 80) as 1:1 ratio. ⋯ Reminiscence therapy did not affect disease-free survival and overall survival, either. Further subgroup analyses (divided by age and gender) observed that the effect of reminiscence therapy seemed more obvious in patients with age ≤60 years and male patients. Reminiscence therapy exhibits alleviation of anxiety and improvement of quality of life in postoperative gastric cancer patients.

Carrelizumab combined with anlotinib in the treatment of extensive-stage small cell lung cancer: A case report.
The emergence of immune checkpoint inhibitors has brought new breakthroughs in the treatment of small cell lung cancer (SCLC). Programmed cell death-ligand 1 inhibitors combined with chemotherapy have been approved for the first-line treatment of extensive-stage small cell lung cancer (ES-SCLC). However, programmed death 1 inhibitors have limited efficacy in the treatment of SCLC. The reason may be related to the abnormal vascular state in the tumor microenvironment. ⋯ In this case, antiangiogenesis combined with programmed death 1 inhibitors significantly inhibited tumor progression. It also indicated that anlotinib concurrent carrelizumab may be a superior choice for ES-SCLC. Further clinical trials required to confifirm its effificacy and safety.

Comparison of corneal endothelial cell changes after phacoemulsification between type 2 diabetic and nondiabetic patients.
The aim of this study is to compare the endothelial cell density (ECD) and morphology between diabetic mellitus (DM) and nondiabetic patients at 1 year after phacoemulsification in operated eyes and nonoperated eyes. Evaluation was performed in 28 patients (56 eyes) with type 2 diabetes and 37 patients (74 eyes) without diabetes who underwent 1-year interval cataract surgery. Using a noncontact specular microscope and Scheimpflug rotating camera, corneal parameters were analyzed before and 1 year after surgery. ⋯ Blood urea nitrogen (BUN) showed a significant correlation with postoperative ECD change (r = -0.474, P = .011). The diabetic group with a longer disease duration showed significantly greater ECD decrease compared to the nondiabetic group and BUN correlated with ECD changes after phacoemulsification. Postoperative ECD loss may be high if the disease duration is long or if the BUN level is high.

Physical exercise leads to structural changes in the brain. However, it is unclear whether the initiation or continuous practice of physical exercise causes this effect and whether brain connectivity benefits from exercise. ⋯ Our findings demonstrate that regular physical exercise significantly increases the integrity of white matter fiber tracts, especially those related to frontal function. This implies that exercise improves brain connectivity in healthy individuals, which has important implications for understanding the effect of fitness programs on the brains of healthy subjects.

Optimal extent of lymphadenectomy for radical surgery of pancreatic head adenocarcinoma: 2-year survival rate results of single-center, prospective, randomized controlled study.
Radical pancreaticoduodenectomy is the only possible cure for pancreatic head adenocarcinoma, and although several RCT studies have suggested the extent of lymph node dissection, this issue remains controversial. This article wanted to evaluate the survival benefit of different lymph node dissection extent for radical surgical treatment of pancreatic head adenocarcinoma. ⋯ This trial was registered at ClinicalTrials.gov (NCT02928081) in October 7, 2016. https://clinicaltrials.gov/.
