Many free radicles are implicated to activate a number of oncogenic signaling, cause damage to deoxyribonucleic acid and tumor suppressor genes, or promote expression of proto-oncogenes. Reduced level of antioxidants and increases oxidative stress markers are associated with the development of various types of cancer. This prospective study included 60 women who were grouped into equal groups. ⋯ In regard to the antioxidant biomarkers, there was a significant difference between the patients and the controls regarding the levels of serum ceruloplasmin and glutathione, (P values .000) for each while vitamin C showed no significant correlation (P value .053), while regarding oxidative stress biomarkers, the correlation was significant for both peroxynitrite and MDA (P value .000 and .001) respectively, and not significant for gamma-glutamyl transferase (P value 1.00). Reduced level both ceruloplasmin and glutathione is seen in patients with breast cancer while vitamin C is not associated. Elevated levels of both peroxynitrite and MDA is seen in patients with breast cancer which may be used as serum markers for the early detection of breast cancer.

The effectiveness of corticosteroid injection and splint in diabetic de Quervain's tenosynovitis patients: A single-blind, randomized clinical consort study.
There is no clear information on the efficacy of corticosteroids, and splints in the treatment of patients with diabetes mellitus (DM). The aim of this study was to compare the outcomes of isolated corticosteroid injection therapy with splint treatment with corticosteroid injection in patients with and without DM. ⋯ Although corticosteroid treatment is effective in the treatment of de Quervain's tenosynovitis in healthy and diabetic individuals, the results are worse in diabetic patients than in healthy patients. In addition, the use of splint with corticosteroid injection in healthy individuals positively affects the results, while it does not affect the results in diabetic patients.

Home-based rehabilitation programs on postural balance, walking, and quality of life in patients with stroke: A single-blind, randomized controlled trial.
The most challenging aspect of rehabilitation is the high costs of in-patient rehabilitation programs and poor continuity of care while patients are transferred to home. In this regard, numerous home-based rehabilitation programs have been developed. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of home-based rehabilitative programs on postural balance, walking, and quality of life in individuals with chronic hemiparetic stroke. ⋯ The results of this study suggest that the HBP group received positive benefits with regard to the postural balance and walking abilities of chronic hemiparetic stroke patients compared to the clinical setting exercise program.

Glaucoma is the second most-common blinding ophthalmic disease in the world, and its incidence has been rising year by year in recent years. Currently, the main treatment of glaucoma still relies on surgery. Glaucoma patients often suffer from various psychological problems like anxiety and depression not only because of the lack of understanding of the surgical treatment of glaucoma, but also the long-term stress and the poor prognosis. As alternative therapies, non-pharmacological interventions can greatly alleviate psychological burdens and improve sleep quality in surgically treated glaucoma patients. Randomized controlled trials of non-pharmacologic interventions for glaucoma have been reported, although the results remain conflicting. Evidences for determining the efficacy of non-pharmacologic interventions for glaucoma are scant. This study aims to assess the effects of non-pharmacological interventions on anxiety, depression, and sleep quality in patients with postoperative glaucoma through a network meta-analysis. ⋯ DOI 10.17605/OSF.IO/TYJPK.

Evaluation of analgesic effect, joint function recovery and safety of meloxicam in knee osteoarthritis patients who receive total knee arthroplasty: A randomized, controlled, double-blind study.
Meloxicam is commonly administrated to control postoperative pain in orthopedic surgery, while its efficacy in total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is not clear. Therefore, this study aimed to explore the postoperative analgesic effect and tolerance of meloxicam in knee osteoarthritis (OA) patients undergoing TKA. Totally, 128 knee OA patients scheduled for TKA were enrolled in this randomized, controlled, double-blind study, then randomized into meloxicam group (N = 65) and control group (N = 63) as 1:1 ratio. ⋯ However, no difference of hospital for special surgery knee score score at M1 or M3 was found between the 2 groups. Moreover, the occurrence of adverse events was similar between the 2 groups. Meloxicam displays good effect on controlling postoperative pain and improving patient satisfaction, while does not affect long-term knee function recovery or safety profile in knee OA patients undergoing TKA.
