Assessment of outcomes of elective cancer surgeries in children during coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic: Retrospective cohort study from a tertiary cancer center in India.
To describe the outcomes of elective cancer surgeries and adverse consequences on the patients and medical staff due to the surgical interventions in children during the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. The study included children younger than 15 years who underwent elective cancer surgeries from March 4, 2020 and December 3, 2020. A total of 121 patients (62% male; median age, 3 years) underwent surgery. ⋯ None of the surgical residents or faculty acquired COVID-19, while 4 each medical and support staff were tested positive in the study period. COVID-19 was not a deterrent for continued cancer care, and surgeries could be safely performed adopting universal preventive measures without any added morbidity from COVID-19. Caregivers and centers dealing with childhood cancers can be encouraged to sustain or seek early healthcare.

Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a functional gastrointestinal disorder with recurrent abdominal pain and changes in bowel habits. Many pieces of evidence show that acupuncture and moxibustion therapy has advantages in the treatment of IBS, but there are many acupuncture and moxibustion therapy options, each of which has different therapeutic effects. This study will evaluate the clinical efficacy of different acupuncture and moxibustion therapies in the treatment of IBS by means of a network meta-analysis. ⋯ DOI 10.17605/OSF.IO/3278Y.

The effects of additional electrical stimulation combined with repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation and motor imagery on upper extremity motor recovery in the subacute period after stroke: A preliminary study.
To evaluate the therapeutic effects of additional electrical stimulation (ES) combined with low frequency (LF)-repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) and motor imagery (MI) training on upper extremity (UE) motor function following stroke. ⋯ These results suggest that the use of LF rTMS + MI combined with additional ES lead to greater improvement of UE motor function after stroke. As such, this intervention may be a promising adjuvant therapy in UE motor training.

To investigate the feasibility, safety, and outcomes of three-dimensional (3D) laparoscopic vaginoplasty with a rectosigmoid colon flap for vaginal reconstruction. Following appropriate preoperative patient counseling, 17 consecutive patients underwent vaginoplasty using a 3D laparoscopic system. Perioperative and postoperative outcomes were retrospectively evaluated. ⋯ The initial intraoperative mean vaginal depth was 15.2 ± 1.3 cm, and the 30-day readmission rate was 5.9% (1/17 cases). The mean follow-up duration was 24.8 months. Perioperative and postoperative outcomes suggest that 3D laparoscopic rectosigmoid colon vaginoplasty is a potentially acceptable, effective, and safe method for vaginal reconstruction.
