There are no standardized methods for collecting and reporting coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) data. We aimed to compare the proportion of patients admitted for COVID-19-related symptoms and those admitted for other reasons who incidentally tested positive for severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). Retrospective cohort studyData were sampled twice weekly between March 26 and June 6, 2020 from a "COVID-19 dashboard," a system-wide administrative database that includes the number of hospitalized patients with a positive SARS-CoV-2 polymerase chain reaction test. ⋯ After the lockdown was suspended, the total inpatient census of SARS-CoV-2-positive patients increased to 128, 20.3% of whom were hospitalized for non-COVID-19-related complaints. In the absence of a statewide lockdown, there was a significant increase in the proportion of patients admitted for non-COVID-19-related complaints who were incidentally found to be SARS-CoV-2-positive. In order to ensure data integrity, coding should distinguish between patients with COVID-19-related symptoms and asymptomatic patients carrying the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

Primary pleural epithelioid angiosarcoma treated successfully with anti-PD-1 therapy: A rare case report.
Primary pleural angiosarcoma (PPA) is an extremely rare malignancy for which there is no consensus on treatment. The clinical course of PPA is usually quickly fatal, regardless of the treatment used. ⋯ Our case report suggests that the use of anti-PD-1 therapy does show efficacy in the treatment of PPA and may provide a viable treatment option for patients.

This study aimed to assess the longitudinal changes in amyloid beta (Aβ) deposition in cortical regions with [11C]-PIB PET in initially amyloid-negative non-demented subjects and evaluate whether amyloid-negative subjects convert to amyloid-positive. Sixteen cognitively normal (CN) and 7 mild cognitive impairment (MCI) subjects (aged 60-75 years), who were amyloid-negative at baseline, underwent 60-minute dynamic [11C]-PIB PET and cognitive assessment over 5.0 to 9.4 years of a long follow-up, and the apolipoprotein-E (APOE) genotype was assessed. Regions of interest were defined in the bilateral cortex on coregistered MRI. ⋯ Three amyloid-negative MCI subjects had an annual increase in global PIB DVR above 0.061/year and became positive at 2.8 ± 0.5 years of follow-up, which was faster than 5.0 ± 2.0 years in 4 CN subjects. The regional PIB DVR that increased early above the regional positivity threshold was most frequently found in the right lateral temporal cortex (71.4%), followed by the left frontal cortex (41.8%). Our results suggest that the initially amyloid-negative CN and MCI subjects, especially with APOE ε4, can become globally amyloid-positive over a longer time, based on early regional Aβ deposition in the lateral temporal cortex and/or frontal cortex.
