The gene cell migration inducing hyaluronidase 1 (CEMIP) is on chromosome 15q25 and codes for a 150-kDa protein with an N-terminal secretion signal, a G8 domain, 2 GG domains, and several repeats. It was first described as a specific protein in the inner ear relating to nonsyndromic hearing loss. ⋯ Thus, CEMIP could be a novel and potential focus for tumor diagnosis and treatment, but further studies on the regulatory role of CEMIP in vivo and in vitro are still needed. Herein, we summarize the process in recent studies of CEMIP, especially in cancer research.

Posterior cerebral artery embolism resulting in bilateral paramedian thalamic infarction: A case report.
Bilateral thalamic infarcts are not easily recognized, it have diverse clinical manifestations and relatively severe symptoms. It may leave long-term drowsiness, cognitive impairment, and speech impairment. We report a case of bilateral paramedian thalamic infarction with impaired consciousness as the main symptom. The digital subtraction angiography suggested that the left superior cerebellar artery and posterior cerebral artery (PCA) were occluded. ⋯ Recurrent lethargy in patients after endovascular treatment may be a clinical manifestation of damage to thalamic structures or due to the presence of ineffective recanalization.

Although anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory measures have delayed the progression of ulcerative colitis (UC) to a certain extent, the adverse drug reactions and recurrence after recovery still trouble clinicians. Acupoint catgut embedding is a possible alternative strategy for the treatment of UC, but its clinical efficacy remains controversial. Therefore, this study systematically evaluated the clinical efficacy and safety of acupoint catgut embedding compared with conventional western medicine in the treatment of UC. ⋯ The clinical efficacy of acupoint catgut embedding in the treatment of UC is superior to that of conventional western medicine, and the safety may be equivalent to that of conventional western medicine, which has the value of further research and exploration.

Acute myocardial infarction (AMI) is a common cause of death worldwide and heart failure (HF) is the main complication. Although the increase in percutaneous coronary intervention and drug treatment can reduce in-hospital mortality after AMI, the incidence of HF after AMI and the resulting risk of death are still rising, which causes difficulties in the rehabilitation of AMI patients after reperfusion. ⋯ This study will provide an important basis for the application of traditional Chinese medicine in patients with AMI after reperfusion and provide an evidence-based basis for the prevention and treatment strategy of HF after AMI.

Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is an autoimmune disease that involves multiple systemic organs. Bushen Huoxue Method (BSHXM) is a traditional Chinese medicine treatment, which is used for the treatment of SLE combining with cyclophosphamide. However, no systematic review has been performed to describe its effectiveness. This study provides a protocol for systematic review and meta-analysis of currently published randomized controlled trials (RCTs) reporting the combination of BSHXM and cyclophosphamide for the treatment of SLE, thus providing evidences to support clinical practice. ⋯ This study will provide a strong basis for the effectiveness and safety of the combination of BSHXM and cyclophosphamide on the treatment of SLE.
