Meta Analysis
Association between the rs4784227-CASC16 polymorphism and the risk of breast cancer: A meta-analysis.
Although several studies have identified an association between the rs4784227-cancer susceptibility candidate gene 16 (CASC16) polymorphism and breast cancer, the results remain inconclusive. Therefore, we conducted a meta-analysis to assess the relationship between the rs4784227-CASC16 polymorphism and breast cancer risk. ⋯ Our pooled analysis showed a significant association between the rs4784227- (T) allele and breast cancer susceptibility in Asian and North American populations, and intervention with this mutation might be a new therapeutic strategy for breast cancer. However, large-scale and well-designed studies are needed in different populations to further evaluate the role of the rs4784227-CASC16 polymorphism in breast cancer.

The presence of diabetes mellitus (DM) has a critical influence on the occurrence and development of endometrial cancer (EC) and is associated with a poor prognosis. Patients with DM are twice as likely to progress to EC, probably because a high-glucose environment contributes to the growth and invasiveness of EC cells. ⋯ Early treatment with metformin is expected to be an effective adjuvant alternative for EC in the future. This knowledge is important for further opening up preventive and therapeutic strategies for EC by targeting glucose metabolism.

Multiple endocrine neoplasia type 1 (MEN1) syndrome is a rare and complicated disease that is associated with several endocrine tumors. Here, we report a case of MEN1 associated with insulinoma, parathyroid, and pituitary tumors by 68Ga-DOTATATE positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT). ⋯ This case demonstrates that 68Ga-DOTATATE can be used for the detection of MEN1-related tumors and preoperative localization of small and low-grade insulinomas by PET/CT.

Solid pseudopapillary neoplasms (SPNs) are frequently seen in young women. Although the behavior pattern varies, these rare lesions generally have a low malignant potential. In this study, the aim was to investigate the effect of clinicopathological features of lesions on the recurrence in and survival of patients. ⋯ The overall survival rate was 95.7%. SPNs are rare lesions with low malignant potential. SPNs are associated with longer-term survival after surgical resection.

Surgical outcomes of the paratricipital approach (PT) and olecranon osteotomy (OO) for the treatment of distal humerus intra-articular fracture have been reported. However, there is no consensus regarding which approach is better in terms of functional outcomes and complications. This study aimed to compare the operation time, functional outcomes, and complications of OO and PT. ⋯ Since the choice of surgical approach does not influence outcomes, surgeons can base their choice of approach on the basis of their own experience and familiarity with the procedure and the need to visualize the entire articular surface in complex intra-articular fracture patterns.
