The purpose of this study is to screen and evaluate cosmetic products for sensitive skin on the face. ⋯ The subjective feeling of application and efficacy of cosmetics in people with sensitive skin could be successfully evaluated by the comprehensive application of human skin enclosed patch test, long-term trial test, subjective safety evaluation and objective efficacy evaluation. And it provides the basis to judge whether the cosmetic is consistent with the efficacy claim of sensitive skin.

Flexible flatfoot is the most common condition seen in pediatric orthopedic practice and generalized joint hypermobility is widely regarded as one of the predisposing factors. However, in previous studies, the flatfoot was defined by observers' subjective evaluation of the eversion of the bare foot in the standing position; and the joint hypermobility was defined by the Beighton score. The objective of this study is to evaluate the correlation between preschool-age flexible flatfoot and joint hypermobility in preschool-age children objectively. ⋯ Two-sample t-test results showed that the normal and flatfoot groups did not differ significantly in the Beighton score (P = .404), thumb-to-forearm grade (P = .063), and thumb-thrust grade (P = .449). The results demonstrated no correlation between joint hypermobility and preschool-age flexible flatfoot when flatfoot was defined with Staheli PAI and joint hypermobility with the Beighton score. Even with 2 new methods, the thumb-to-forearm test and thumb-thrust test, to define joint hypermobility, we still found no correlation between preschool-age flexible flatfoot and joint hypermobility.

Nevus sebaceous (NS) is a common congenital hamartoma of the skin composed predominantly of sebaceous glands. Although most NS are benign skin tumors, malignant transformations have been reported. There is still controversy about the lifetime risk of malignant degeneration and precise surgical criteria. ⋯ Two cases had histological findings that showed a miss-match between punch biopsy and excisional biopsy results. No recurrence was detected 2 years after surgeries in any patients. Cases after third stage, especially in over 40 years who report morphologic changes, should undergo total surgical excision as the first approach, with strong suspicion of malignant degeneration.

In 2017, an incident of failed sterilization of dental instruments occurred at a large dental outpatient facility in Singapore. We aim to describe findings of the investigation of the sterilization breach incident, factors related to risk of viral transmission to the potentially affected patients, and the contact tracing process, patient management, and blood test results at a 6-month follow-up. A full assessment of the incident was immediately carried out. ⋯ At the 6-month follow-up, there were no infected/colonized cases found related to the incident. Lapses in the sterilization process for medical and dental instruments can happen, but a risk assessment approach is useful to manage similar incidents. Quick response and proper documentation of the sterilization process can prevent similar incidents.

Dissecting the complex relationships between skin aging and air pollution has been an ongoing effort. The increased exposure to air pollution over time imposed a negative effect on skin. This study explores the correlation between skin aging in the Asian population and levels of air pollutants to show different relationship between the two. ⋯ Air pollutants such as CO, NO2, NOx, PM2.5, PM10, SO2, and NMHC were found to correlate with negative skin quality strongly. In contrast, O3 exposure is associated with less texture and pores. Future studies are warranted to further appreciate the relationships between air pollutants and skin condition.
