Congenital eye diseases have a significant impact on children and young adults. Retinal detachment associated with Kniest dysplasia represents the most severe ocular complication, which is challenging to diagnose and treat effectively. Genetic testing has emerged as an invaluable tool for diagnosing hereditary diseases. ⋯ Retinal detachment represents the most serious ocular complication associated with Kniest dysplasia. To prevent permanent blindness, early diagnosis through genetic testing and regular ophthalmological examinations are imperative. Advances in genetic screening have improved the management of retinal detachment risk in Kniest dysplasia patients.

As individuals age, cancer becomes increasingly common. This continually rising risk can be attributed to various interconnected factors that influence the body's susceptibility to cancer. Among these factors, the accumulation of senescent cells in tissues and the subsequent decline in immune cell function and proliferative potential are collectively referred to as immunosenescence. ⋯ Furthermore, there are several age-related intervention methods, including metformin and rapamycin, which involve genetic and pharmaceutical approaches. This article aims to elucidate the defining characteristics of immunosenescence and its impact on malignant tumors and immunotherapy. We particularly focus on the future directions of cancer treatment, exploring the complex interplay between immunosenescence, cancer, and potential interventions.

Apoptosis of skin keratinocytes is closely associated with skin problems in humans and natural flavonoids have shown excellent biological activity. Hence, the study of flavonoids against human keratinocyte apoptosis has aroused the interest of numerous researchers. In this study, methyl thiazolyl tetrazolium (MTT) assay and Western blots were used to investigate the skin-protective effect of isoviolanthin, a di-C-glycoside derived from Dendrobium officinale, on hydrogen peroxide (H2O2)-triggered apoptosis of skin keratinocytes. ⋯ Last, our results found isoviolanthin has a strong affinity for binding to KDM6B, CHAC2, ESCO2, and IPO4, which may be the potential target for treating skin injuries induced by reactive oxide species. The current study confirms isoviolanthin potential as a skin protectant. The findings may serve as a starting point for further research into the mechanism of isoviolanthin protection against skin damage caused by reactive oxide species (e.g., hydrogen peroxide).

Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is an autoimmune disease involving multiple systems. Its recurrent episodes and fluctuating disease courses have a severe impact on patients. Biomarkers to predict disease prognosis and remission are still lacking in SLE. ⋯ Finally, further immune infiltration analysis showed differences in various immune cells in the SLE and healthy control samples. ARID2, CYSTM1, DDIT3, and RNASE1 can affect the immune function of SLE patients. ARID2, CYSTM1, DDIT3, and RNASE1 could be used as immune-related potential biomarkers and therapeutic or diagnostic targets for further research.

Medial epicondyle fractures a prevalent injury, constituting 11% to 20% of all elbow fractures in children and adolescents. Common fixation strategies for displaced medial epicondylar fractures involve the use of K-wires and Lag-Screw fixation. The aim of this retrospective study was to compare 2 methods for treating medial epicondylar fractures in children. ⋯ However, the LS group experienced fewer complications than the KW group. Both Lag-Screw and K-wires fixation for medial epicondyle fractures in pediatric patients yield favorable mid-term results when assessed in terms of ROM,ROR, MEPS. K-wires fixation, while having a shorter operation time and saving an additional anesthesia and surgery to remove the implants compare to fixed by Lag-Screw fixation, does come with a higher complication rate.
