Lymphoma of the central nervous system originating from the septum pellucidum region: Two case reports with literature review.
Non-Hodgkin lymphoma affecting the brain, eyes, and cerebrospinal fluid without systemic spread is known as primary central nervous system lymphoma (PCNSL). While intracerebroventricular PCNSL is commonly found in the lateral ventricles and the third and fourth ventricles, the occurrence of PCNSL originating from the septum pellucidum is extremely rare. ⋯ In cases of PCNSL in the septum pellucidum, it is crucial to consider it as a potential differential diagnosis for intraventricular tumors. Surgical interventions should focus on maximizing tumor resection while ensuring the protection of critical structures like the fornix and peripheral neural components. The role of surgery compared to biopsy, as well as the long-term complications, necessitates extended follow-up. Additionally, an individualized treatment approach, considering factors such as age, Karnofsky performance score, and organ function assessment, can lead to positive outcomes.

To investigate the effect of Vertebral augmentation (VA) in the treatment of single-level osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures (OVCFs) on new vertebral fractures. ⋯ VA is associated with an increased risk of new vertebral fractures and adjacent vertebral fractures following single-level OVCFs. With longer follow-ups, new vertebral fractures may be more significant. Clinical surgeons should pay attention to long-term postoperative complications and choose treatment carefully.

Confusion in the monitoring of coagulation function in pregnant and neonate patients with severe disease: A case reports and brief literature review.
Different populations have their own unique physiological and pathological characteristics. However, in specialized maternal and child hospitals, there is currently a lack of standardized methods for assessing coagulation dysfunction, both domestically and internationally. ⋯ For pregnant and neonatal critical illnesses, it is necessary to develop personalized coagulation monitoring programs that provide realistic and reasonable treatment recommendations. Such programs should consider the unique physiological and pathological characteristics of different populations to ensure effective management of critically ill patients.

Severe immediate hypersensitivity to gadolinium contrast agent after targeted treatment in a patient with alveolar soft part sarcoma: A case report and review of literature.
Gadolinium-based contrast agents (GBCAs), benefiting from good tolerance and safety, become the priority contrast agents in magnetic resonance imaging. Serious hypersensitivity reactions caused by GBCAs are rare, but occur occasionally. The "immune surveillance" theory proposes that lowered immune function exists in patients with malignance, which decrease the occurrence of atopy. Natural immunosurveillance that enhanced by effective treatment of malignance may increase the risk of hypersensitivity. ⋯ Severe immediate hypersensitivity might be occurred by gadolinium contrast agent in patients with malignance after effective treatment. We explored the potential mechanism of GBCA-inducing hypersensitivity in detail, by especially focusing on the changes of immune environment. Furthermore, we propose new ideas for the safe use of GBCAs in patients with malignancies.

Actinobacillus ureae may be a critical pathogen in patients with predispositions: A case report and review of the literature.
Actinobacillus ureae (A. ureae) is an unusual commensal of human respiratory flora, rarely causing human infection. The predisposing factors, identification, clinical features, and antibiotic therapy of A. ureae are seldomly reported. Herein, we present a case of 64-year-old man affected by A. ureae pneumonia after intracranial surgery. ⋯ Clinically, the actual incidence of A. ureae pneumonia may be higher than that we generally recognized, and clinicians should consider A. ureae as a possible etiologic agent in patients with predispositions. Currently, A. ureae may be susceptible to penicillin, ampicillin, and third-generation cephalosporins. Other antibacterial agents, such as tetracycline, amoxicillin/clavulanic acid, and aminoglycosides also respond well and can be a choice in the treatment of A. ureae infections.
