To determine the possible risk factors for post-stroke depression in patients with mild and moderate acute strokes. A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted involving 129 patients with mild and moderate acute strokes. The patients were divided into post-stroke depression and non-depressed stroke groups according to the Hamilton Depression Rating Scale for Depression-17 item and Patient Health Questionnaire-9 item assessments. ⋯ Patients with post-stroke depression had an increased stroke frequency, severe stroke symptoms and poor performance in activities of daily living (ADL), cognitive function, sleep quality, interest in pleasurable activities, negative life events, and utilization of social support compared to stroke patients without depression. The Negative Life Event Scale (LES) score was significantly and independently associated with an increased probability of depression in stroke patients. Negative life events were shown to be independently associated with the incidence of depression in patients with mild and moderate acute strokes, likely mediating the influence of other predictors of depression, such as a history of stroke, decreased ADL ability, and utilization of support.

The traditional surgical methods to the fracture of the inferior patellar fracture include steel wire tension band fixation and inferior patellar resection, which have many disadvantages. In order to overcome the disadvantages of traditional surgery, we innovated and improved the double row anchor suture bridge technology to the treat the inferior patellar fracture. This study is to investigate the method, technique and clinical efficacy of double-row anchor suture bridge technique in the treatment of inferior pole fractures of patella. ⋯ The muscle strength of quadriceps femoris was grade 5. Double-row anchor suture bridge technique is applied to inferior pole fractures of patella by virtue of its various effects, such as the complete preservation of the inferior pole fragments during the operation, satisfactory fracture reduction, firm fixation, and meeting patients' requirements for early postoperative ambulation. In summary, double-row anchor suture bridge technique is an ideal surgical procedure for the treatment of the inferior pole fracture of patella with safety, reliability and high satisfaction.

Ventricular tachycardia (VT) and ventricular fibrillation (VF) are life-threatening conditions which increase in frequency over the years. Electrical storm (ES) is defined as the occurrence of 3 or more continuous ventricular arrhythmia. The sympathetic nervous system has an important role in Ventricular arrythmias (VA) and is the target of treatment. Studies show that stellate ganglion blockade (SGB) can reduce cardiac sympathetic tone and is an alternative bridge therapy in VAs. ⋯ Unilateral USG-guided SGB application is an effective and safe method in patients with ES and VA. Long-term results can be satisfactory in successful responders in whom SGB is performed with a combination of local anesthetic and steroid.

High-flow nasal cannula (HFNC), which overcomes the disadvantages of the existing low flow mask, is an efficient method that can immediately provide a high volume of heated oxygen to the patient.[1] Therefore, this case reports a case in which HFNC was applied to a pregnant with acute respiratory failure. ⋯ HFNC is a safe device that can effectively provide oxygen to pregnant with acute respiratory failure.

This study aimed to establish a clinical model to predict the risk of hemorrhoid recurrence after procedure for prolapse and hemorrhoids. The clinical data of patients who underwent stapler hemorrhoidal mucosal circumcision in Shanxi Bethune Hospital from April 2014 to June 2017 were collected retrospectively and followed up regularly after the operation. Finally, 415 patients were included, which were divided into training group (n = 290) and verification group (n = 125). ⋯ The area under the curve of the prediction model was 0.813 and 0.679, respectively, in the training and verification groups, and 0.839 and 0.746, respectively, for the 5-year recurrence rate. The C index (0.737) and clinical decision curve showed that the model had high clinical practical value. The prediction model of hemorrhoid recurrence risk after hemorrhoidectomy based on multiple clinical indicators can be used for individualized prediction of hemorrhoid recurrence in patients after hemorrhoidectomy, and early intervention measures can be given to individuals with a high recurrence risk to reduce the risk of recurrence.
