Yi Dian Hong, belonging to the Asteraceae family, finds widespread use in traditional Chinese medicine for its effectiveness in clearing heat, detoxifying, promoting blood circulation, reducing swelling, and cooling the blood. Modern medical research has revealed that Yi Dian Hong and its proprietary Chinese medicines possess biological functions such as inhibiting tumor-specific angiogenesis and regulating immune-related molecules. ⋯ Unfortunately, China currently lacks relevant content standards, thereby introducing greater clinical application risks. To ensure the safety of clinical use of Yi Dian Hong, this review will analyze the risk associated with Yi Dian Hong and its proprietary Chinese medicines in clinical applications based on the PAs content in these medicines and provide recommendations.

Age and gender are 2 important factors in the treatment of end-stage chronic kidney disease with hemodialysis. Understanding the influence of these 2 factors can help optimize treatment for this population. This study evaluated gender and age differences in achievement of Kidney Disease Improving Global Outcomes (KDIGO) treatment targets. ⋯ Most of the differences above were among patients aged < 60 and 60 to 69 years. Although men had higher satisfactory treatment parameters than women, based on KDIGO treatment targets, women received hemodialysis more effectively than men. Treatment targets for patients on hemodialysis should consider gender and age differences.

Digoxin is a frequently prescribed medication for the management of both acute and chronic cardiac insufficiency. The overdose ingestion of digoxin can result in a range of arrhythmias, with severe cases potentially leading to malignant arrhythmias and fatal outcomes. To date, there is a lack of documented cases related to acute digoxin intoxication resulting from the administration of massive digoxin overdose in the short term. ⋯ There have been no known cases of intoxication resulting from a significant overdose of digoxin, specifically with the consumption of 330 tablets (0.25 mg/tablet). However, in the event of ingesting excessive amounts of digoxin, it is imperative to promptly administer stomach lavage, administration of a laxative, and arrhythmia correction. The administration of temporary pacemaker therapy is recommended for patients presenting with high atrioventricular block, whereas hemoperfusion is advised for patients with renal insufficiency as a means to eliminate digoxin from the body.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the safety and efficacy of percutaneous pedicle screw fixation combined with bone cement augmentation in the management of stage III Kümmell disease without nerve deformity. A retrospective analysis was conducted on 17 patients diagnosed with stage III Kümmell disease without nerve deformity, who underwent treatment with percutaneous pedicle screw fixation combined with bone cement augmentation between April 2019 and 2022. Preoperative, postoperative, and final follow-up clinical outcome measures were collected, including Visual Analog Scale scores and Oswestry Disability Index scores. ⋯ All patients underwent successful surgery, resulting in significant reductions in Visual Analog Scale scores, Oswestry Disability Index scores, and Cobb angle postoperatively; meanwhile there was a significant increase in height of the anterior border of the affected vertebral body. No major complications occurred during the follow-up period. In conclusion, percutaneous pedicle screw short-segment fixation combined with bone cement augmentation appears to be an effective surgical option for treating stage III Kümmell disease without nerve deformities.

Uterine abscess is a rare gynecologic entity and only a few cases have been reported so far. This study aimed to describe our clinical experience in this case. Initially, hematoma was diagnosed without detail previous medical record. Finally, laparotomy was performed due to refractory fever and highly possible diagnosis of uterine abscess. We successfully performed a hysterectomy and the patient had an uneventful recovery. ⋯ Complete imaging examinations are recommended prior myomectomy to facilitate the differential diagnosis of postoperative complications. In addition, several measures, such as maintaining aseptic conditions during surgery and postoperative drainage, play a critical role in preventing nosocomial infections. Rare uterine abscess is often mistaken for hematoma with fever. If the patient develops high fever after myomectomy, accompanied by a mass in the myometrium, the possibility of infection or even abscess formation should not be excluded. For women who need to preserve their fertility, the early diagnosis and timely administration of appropriate medication is crucial for preventing uterine loss.
