Hemodialysis continues to be the primary approach for renal replacement therapy. Vascular access (VA), particularly arteriovenous fistula or arteriovenous graft, is the preferred technique for establishing hemodialysis access due to its lower risk of infection and central venous stenosis compared to catheters. The aim of this cross-sectional investigation was to examine hemodialysis nurses' knowledge, confidence, and practices in managing VA in Saudi Arabia. ⋯ Concerning VA, the level of knowledge among hemodialysis nurses working in Saudi Arabia was inadequate. Nurses who hold an undergraduate degree are presumed to have a more extensive understanding of dialysis VA. Further education programs are necessary for HD nurses to enhance their knowledge of VA, thereby optimizing their professional practices and enhancing the outcomes for their patients.

Recurrence of locally invasive retroperitoneal dedifferentiated liposarcoma shortly after surgery: A case report and literature review.
Retroperitoneal dedifferentiated liposarcoma (RPDDL) is an uncommon malignancy, which often remains undetected for many years due to having adequate space in the retroperitoneal cavity and lacking clinical manifestations in the early stage of the disease. Surgical procedure is usually used as the first choice for treatment. However, it is prone to local recurrence after the operation, resulting in an unfavorable prognosis. Our aim is to draw useful lessons from the new case and provide some experience for management of the disease. ⋯ Regular physical examination and ultrasound screening may detect the disease as early as possible, especially for high-risk group aged 60 to 70, which should be popularized. Incomplete resection, vascular invasion, and interruption of postoperative treatment may lead to an unfavorable prognosis. Therefore, we think that patients with the disease may benefit from complete surgical resection and uninterrupted adjuvant therapy.

Exercise is an important factor for the treatment and rehabilitation of depression. Traditional Chinese exercise is considered as an effective treatment for depression. In recent years, many studies have shown that Chinese exercise therapy may be safe in the treatment of depression. To evaluate the therapeutic effect of traditional Chinese exercise on depression using network meta-analysis. ⋯ The 3 exercises included in this study were effective for depression. Baduanjin and Tai Chi were better at improving the outcomes related to depression and anxiety. The effect of sleep quality intervention was slightly worse. Larger, high-quality randomized controlled trials are needed to compare interventions across exercises in a more granular manner.

Iliopsoas abscess, mainly caused by Staphylococcus aureus, occurs via the bloodstream or spread from adjacent infected organs. Although a few cases regarding primary iliopsoas abscess caused by Streptococcus dysgalactiae subspecies equisimilis (SDSE) with accompanying disseminated foci have been reported to date, there has been no case report on solitary primary iliopsoas abscess caused by SDSE. ⋯ SDSE can cause a solitary primary iliopsoas abscess, which can be successfully treated with an appropriate dose of antimicrobials without draining the abscess.

Congenital surfactant deficiency, often caused by mutations in genes involved in surfactant biosynthesis such as ABCA3, presents a significant challenge in neonatal care due to its severe respiratory manifestations. This study aims to analyze the clinical data of a newborn male diagnosed with pulmonary surfactant metabolism dysfunction type 3 resulting from ABCA3 gene mutations to provide insights into the management of this condition. ⋯ Hereditary pulmonary surfactant deficiency is a rare and untreatable disease. The case highlights the challenges in managing congenital surfactant deficiencies and emphasizes the need for heightened awareness of this rare cause of infant respiratory failure.
