Sarcoma is a heterogeneous malignancy arising from interstitial tissue. Anthracycline-based therapy is the first-line treatment recommended by guidelines for patients with locally advanced or metastatic unresectable sarcoma. Recently, targeted therapies, in particular tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs), have made significant progress in the treatment of sarcoma, and their efficacy has been investigated in randomized controlled trials. The aim of this meta-analysis is to evaluate the efficacy of TKIs in patients with advanced or metastatic sarcoma who have previously received chemotherapy. ⋯ In patients with advanced sarcoma, TKIs have been shown to have advantages in terms of ORR, DCR and PFS and OS. Multi-targeted TKIs may be considered as one of the second-line treatment options for sarcoma patients who have received prior chemotherapy.

Proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9) inhibitors have been shown to be effective and safe in patients with stable angina and previous myocardial infarction. However, evidence for initiating their use in patients hospitalized with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) is limited. This systematic review and meta-analysis was performed to provide more clinical evidence. ⋯ Application of a PCSK9 inhibitor in hospitalized patients with ACS reduced lipid profiles and plaque burdens and was well tolerated with few adverse events.

Gut microbiota-based discriminative model for patients with ulcerative colitis: A meta-analysis and real-world study.
Gut microbiota directly interacts with intestinal epithelium and is a significant factor in the pathogenesis of ulcerative colitis (UC). A meta-analysis was performed to investigate gut microbiota composition of patients with UC in the United States. We also collected fecal samples from Chinese patients with UC and healthy individuals. ⋯ In summary, we found significant differences in gut bacteria between UC individuals and healthy subjects. Notably, the model from the Chinese cohort performed better at diagnosing UC patients compared to healthy subjects. These results highlight the promise of personalized and region-specific approaches using gut microbiota data for UC diagnosis.

Association of white blood cell parameters with metabolic syndrome: A systematic review and meta-analysis of 168,000 patients.
Leukocyte parameters are predicted to be affected in patients with metabolic syndrome (MetS). We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to study the association between white blood cell parameters (WBC) in people with and without MetS. ⋯ Biomarkers such as total leukocyte count, neutrophil count, lymphocyte count, basophil count, monocyte count and neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio are associated with higher levels in patients in MetS and thus can potentially be used for early detection of MetS.

Quantitative evaluation of gut microbiota composition in pancreatic cancer: A pooled study.
Prior research has demonstrated a positive association between the composition of gut microbiota and the incidence of pancreatic cancer. Nevertheless, a thorough quantitative and systematic evaluation of the distinct properties of gut microbiota in individuals diagnosed with pancreatic cancer has yet to be conducted. The objective of this study is to examine alterations in the diversity of intestinal microbiota in individuals diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. ⋯ Overall, there are certain characteristic changes in the gut microbiota of pancreatic cancer patients. However, further research is warranted to elucidate the specific mechanism of action and the potential for treatment.
