This study aimed to determine the level of brain activation in separate regions, including the lobes, cerebellum, and limbic system, depending on the weight of an object during elbow flexion and extension exercise using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). The study was conducted on ten male undergraduates (22.4 ± 1.2 years). The functional images of the brain were obtained using the 3T MRI. ⋯ For holding an object in hand, compared to not holding it, the exercise load was greater for controlling the motion to maintain the posture (arm angle at 90°), controlling the speed to repeat the motion at a constant speed, and producing an accurate posing. Therefore, to maintain such varied conditions, the activation level increased in the regions associated with control and regulation through the motion coordination from vision to arm movements (control of muscles). A characteristic reduced activation was observed in the regions associated with visuo-vestibular interaction and voluntary movement when the exercise involved lifting a 1000-g object compared to the exercise without object lifting.

Meta Analysis
High expression of AFAP1-AS1 is associated with poor prognosis of digestive system cancers: A meta-analysis.
Actin filament-associated protein 1 antisense RNA 1 (AFAP1-AS1) is associated with prognosis in many cancers. The aim of this study was to systematically evaluate the potential correlation between AFAP1-AS1 and the prognosis of digestive system cancers (DSC). ⋯ High expression of AFAP1-AS1 was associated with poor prognosis in DSC. Therefore, it could be used as a potential marker for evaluating prognosis in DSC.

Burnout among kindergarten teachers is a subject of great concern. Although burnout is reported to be significantly associated with turnover intention and work engagement, few studies have examined factors associated with burnout among these teachers. Therefore, in the present study, we performed a cross-sectional survey of burnout and associated factors among kindergarten teachers. ⋯ The survey examined burnout (Maslach Burnout Inventory, MBI), teacher stress (Nursery Teacher's Stress Scale, NTSS), coping behaviors (Brief Scales for Coping Profile, BSCP), and social support (Social Support Scale, SSS). A multiple regression analysis revealed that all 3 MBI subscales were positively associated with "understanding of how to handle children" on the NTSS and negatively associated with "superiors" on the SSS. "Emotional exhaustion" was significantly associated with "interpersonal relations at work" and "lack of time" on the NTSS, and "avoidance and suppression" on the BSCP. "Depersonalization" was significantly associated with age, "disconnect in working conditions" on the NTSS, and "proactive problem solving" and "venting emotions to others" on the BSCP. "Diminished professional accomplishment" was significantly associated with age, "lack of time" on the NTSS, and "proactive problem solving" and "change in perspective" on the BSCP. These results suggest that support from superiors that enables teachers to better understand children and handle them appropriately is necessary to prevent burnout.

Observational Study
The thickness of erector spinae muscles can be easily measured by computed tomography for the assessment of physical activity: An observational study.
The loss of muscle mass and changes in muscle composition are important factors for assessing skeletal muscle dysfunction. The cross-sectional area (CSA) of muscle is usually used to assess skeletal muscle function. However, the CSA of skeletal muscle can be difficult for clinicians to measure because a specific 3D image analysis system for computed tomography (CT) scans is needed. ⋯ ESMT and ESMCSA were positively associated with body weight (ESMT: R = 0.540, P < .001, ESMCSA: R = 0.714, P < .001), body mass index (ESMT: R = 0.421, P < .001, ESMCSA: R = 0.560, P < .001), the 6MWT value (ESMT: R = 0.413, P = .040, ESMCSA: R = 0.503, P = .010), vital capacity (ESMT: R = 0.527, P < .001, ESMCSA: R = 0.577, P < .001), and the forced expiratory volume in 1 second (ESMT: R = 0.460, P < .001, ESMCSA: R = 0.532, P < .001). We demonstrated that compared to ESMCSA, ESMT is easily measured by CT and can be a useful parameter for clinically evaluating physical activity. Furthermore, ESMT and ESMCSA were related to physical activity, as measured by the 6MWT and spirometry.

Airway neutrophilia has been associated with asthma severity and asthma exacerbations. This study attempted to identify biomarkers, pathogenesis, and therapeutic molecular targets for severe asthma in neutrophils using bioinformatics analysis. ⋯ This study identified potential biomarkers, pathogenesis, and therapeutic molecular targets for neutrophil-predominant severe asthma.
