Chronic pain coexists with disability, anxiety, depression, and sleep disturbances, which are factors of pain chronicity in the fear-avoidance model. Self-efficacy for managing pain plays a protective role against pain chronicity. For chronic pain sufferers, social support from caregivers is important. ⋯ Caregiver burden correlated with the pain intensity, pain catastrophizing, anxiety, depression, disability, and self-efficacy of chronic pain patients. Among these factors, self-efficacy was the most negatively correlated with caregiver burden. Treatments focused on increasing self-efficacy for managing pain have the potential to reduce caregiver burden.

Studies on the association of thyroid autoimmunity with cardiometabolic risk and coronary artery disease (CAD) have produced conflicting results. This study aimed to investigate the relationship of thyroid autoimmune bodies (thyroid peroxidase antibody [TPOAb] and thyroglobulin antibody [TgAb]) with CAD in euthyroid subjects undergoing coronary angiography. A total of 307 subjects who underwent coronary angiography were included. ⋯ There was no significant difference for ln (Gensini score) between TPOAb- and TPOAb+ group (2.90 ± 1.14 vs 2.85 ± 1.09, P = .782). Logistical regression analysis revealed that positive TgAb was inversely associated with the presence of CAD (OR: 0.387, 95% CI: 0.157-0.952, p = .039) independent of other risk factors. The results showed that TgAb positivity might be an independent protective factor for CAD.

Chromosomal aberrations in peripheral blood are a major cause of reproductive disorders for the infertile couples. Reciprocal translocation is closely related to male infertility. The breakpoint of translocation may disrupt or dysregulate important genes related to spermatogenesis. ⋯ Overall, these results suggest that the breakpoint involved in translocation deserves attention from physicians in genetic counseling. The breakpoint rearrangement has the possibility of disrupting spermatogenesis. The relationship between 22q11.2 breakpoint and male infertility deserves further study.

Chloride intracellular channel 1 (CLIC1) plays an important role in the process of cell epithelial transport, and is also involved in tumor invasion and metastasis. Due to its aberrant expression in cancer, the mechanism of action of CLIC1 in cancer has been carefully studied. In this study, we tried to investigate the relationship between CLIC1 and lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD). ⋯ In summary, CLIC1 is up-regulated in LUAD and is associated with tumor metastasis, tumor staging, and OS. It may be regarded as a novel marker for prognostic judgement in LUAD.

The aim of the study was to observe the association between follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) levels and serum lipid profiles in postmenopausal women. A total of 411 healthy postmenopausal women with a mean age of 55 years (range 45-65 years) were enrolled in this study. Data on age, time of last menstrual period, past medical history, use of medications, and smoking status were collected, and body weight, height, and blood pressure were measured. ⋯ Although FSH may also be negatively associated with dyslipidemia (P = .06 for trend) and hypercholesterolemia (P = .079 for trend), but no statistical significance was found after adjusting for confounding factors, particularly BMI. All relevant data are within the paper and its Supporting Information files. The results indicated that lower FSH levels might increase the odds of dyslipidemia, especially the risk of LDL-C elevation, which is an important factor that increases the risk of CVD in postmenopausal women.
