Anaphylactic shock is the severe state of the allergic reaction, which is rapid in onset and fatal. This is the first study that discusses the anaphylactic shock of exenatide reexposure in the patient who has interrupted exenatide treatment. ⋯ Although exenatide is not prone to anaphylaxis, it is the synthetic peptide that can induce antibody formation. Exenatide has immunogenicity with the potential to elicit an allergic reaction upon administration. Clinicians should always pay more attention to the anaphylactic shock of exenatide, when prescribing for diabetics.

Cases with organ-specific and systemic vasculitis associated with corona virus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccination have been reported. However, acute partial transverse myelitis (APTM) is rare adverse events following received COVID-19 vaccines. To the best of our knowledge, there is no report on vaccine-associated APTM accompanied by possible concurrent vasculitis. Herein we present a case with possible concurrent spinal vasculitis and APTM following the second dose of inactivated COVID-19 vaccine. ⋯ this case illustrates the concurrence of possible vasculitis in vertebral bodies and acute transverse myelitis (ATM) following COVID-19 vaccination.

Paralytic ileus occurs in up to 18% of the patients with pelvic bone fractures. The aim of this study is to determine if massive bleeding requiring arterial angio-embolization is related with the duration of ileus in patients with traumatic pelvic ring injuries. This retrospective study included 25 patients who underwent arterial angio-embolization for traumatic pelvic ring injuries. ⋯ The amount of packed red blood cell transfusions was associated with a greater risk of prolonged ileus development (P = .03, odds ratio = 2.04, 95% confidence interval = 1.08-3.88). This study supports the idea that the duration of the ileus is related with the amount of bleeding caused by the traumatic pelvic ring injury. In order to prevent further complications, conservative treatments of the ileus should be considered.

Apolipoprotein E alleles have been associated with both Alzheimer's disease (AD) and intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH). In addition, ICH is associated with a markedly high risk of subsequent dementia compared to other subtypes of stroke. We sought to evaluate if other genetic markers for AD were also associated with ICH. ⋯ The 51 most significant 2-SNP haplotypes associated with lobar ICH were identified within the Clusterin (CLU) gene. We identified that variation within CR1 and CLU, previously identified risk factors for AD, and are associated with an increased risk for ICH driven primarily by lobar ICH. Previous work implicated CR1 and CLU in cerebral amyloid clearance, the innate immune system, and cellular stress response.

This work aimed to determine and compare plasma and vitreous selenium (Se) concentrations in patients with type 2 diabetes and diabetic retinopathy (DR). ⋯ The elevation of Se concentrations may be an important risk factor in plasma and vitreous with diabetic retinopathy among type-2-diabetes patients. The elevated VEGF may be also closely related to the intraocular Se concentration in PDR patients.
