The cytoskeleton must be remodeled during neurite outgrowth, and Superior Cervical Ganglion 10 (SCG10) plays a critical role in this process by depolymerizing Microtubules (MTs), conferring highly dynamic properties to the MTs. However, the precise mechanism of action of SCG10 in the repair of injured neurons remains largely uncertain. Using transcriptomic identification, we discovered that SCG10 expression was downregulated in neurons after Spinal Cord Injury (SCI). ⋯ More importantly, the application of the ADK inhibitor called 5-Iodotubercidin (5-ITu) was found to significantly enhance the recovery of motor function in mice with SCI. Consequently, our findings suggest that ADK plays a negative regulatory role in the repair of injured neurons. Herein, we propose a molecular interaction model of the SCG10-ADK axis to regulate neuronal recovery.

Alcohol hangover is the combination of negative mental and physical symptoms which can be experienced after a single episode of alcohol consumption, starting when blood alcohol concentration approaches zero. We previously demonstrated that hangover provokes mitochondrial dysfunction, oxidative stress, imbalance in antioxidant defenses, and impairment in cellular bioenergetics. Chronic and acute ethanol intake induces neuroapoptosis but there are no studies which evaluated apoptosis at alcohol hangover. ⋯ Caspase 3, 8 and 9 protein expressions were 32%, 33% and 20% respectively enhanced and the activity of caspase 3 and 6 was 30% and 20% increased also due to the hangover condition. Moreover, 38% and 32% increments were found in PARP1 and p53 protein expression respectively and on the contrary, SIRT-1 was almost 50% lower than controls due to the hangover condition. The present work demonstrates that alcohol after-effects could result in the activation of mitochondrial and non-mitochondrial apoptosis pathways.

Our previous study revealed that acupuncture may exhibit therapeutic effects on Alzheimer's disease (AD) through the activation of metabolism in memory-related brain regions. However, the underlying functional mechanism remains poorly understood and warrants further investigation. In this study, we used resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rsfMRI) to explore the potential effect of electroacupuncture (EA) on the 5xFAD mouse model of AD. ⋯ Additionally, the expression of amyloid-β(Aβ) protein and deposition in the Hip showed a downward trend in the EA group compared to the Model group (p < 0.05). In conclusion, our findings indicate that EA treatment can improve the learning and memory abilities and inhibit the expression of Aβ protein and deposition of 5xFAD mice. This improvement may be attributed to the enhancement of the resting-state functional activity and connectivity within the limbic-neocortical neural circuit, which are crucial for cognition, motor function, as well as spatial learning and memory abilities in AD mice.
