We present 2 cases showing that flexor pollicis longus and flexor digitorum profundus index injury can occur after placement of 2 commonly used locked volar plates. In contrast with the literature, the radii healed in an anatomic position without plate lift-off. ⋯ In both cases, the plate was positioned anterior to the distal radial rim on the lateral radiograph. We suggest close follow-up of all fractures in which the distal end of the plate is anterior to the radial rim and removal of hardware if symptoms suggest tendon irritation.

To describe the configuration of the 1,2 intercompartmental supraretinacular artery (1,2 ICSRA), including the location of the perforators, and to discuss the clinical use of the 1,2 ICSRA for vascularized bone grafting of scaphoid nonunions. ⋯ The detailed anatomy of the 1,2 ICSRA presented in this study may guide in planning and dissection to maximize the vascularity of a pedicled bone graft based on this vessel for the management of scaphoid nonunions.

Pyogenic granuloma, also known as lobular capillary hemangioma, is a benign vascular tumor of the skin and mucous membranes. Whereas the literature describes pyogenic granulomas of pregnancy as occurring mainly within the gingival or oral mucosa, we present 5 cases of a histologically confirmed pyogenic granuloma on the hands of gravid women, each with no history of antecedent trauma. These tumors failed to resolve spontaneously postpartum necessitating surgical removal. We propose the term epulis gravidarum manum to describe this skin lesion.
