The role of extracellular factors in human metastatic chordoma cell growth in vitro.
Human metastatic chordoma cells were isolated, and initial in vitro characterization was performed. Biochemical and physiologic changes were observed in response to pH, oxygen, and glucose. ⋯ The level of proliferation, apoptosis, and tyrosine phosphorylation, as well as the overall protein expression profile, strongly depended on extracellular media pH and oxygen/glucose levels. Chordoma's preferred extracellular microenvironment in vitro was rather alkaline, with an optimum at pH 8.5, and apoptotic changes were induced at acidic pH. We found that bovine serum albumin was accumulated by chordoma cells from the incubation media, and this accumulation depended on extracellular pH, with the highest accumulation at alkaline pH.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter Study Comparative Study
The effects of lifestyle intervention for hypertension on low back pain: a randomized controlled trial.
Randomized controlled trial. ⋯ Multidisciplinary lifestyle intervention aimed to reduce hypertension is not effective at reducing prevalence of low back pain or disability. However, in the subgroup of persons doing moderate or heavy work, the intervention seemed to reduce prevalence of low back pain during the 1-year follow-up.

Minimal clinically important change of the Neck Disability Index and the Numerical Rating Scale for patients with neck pain.
Prospective, single-cohort study. ⋯ The estimated MCIC should be used as an indication for relevant changes in clinical practice. Using the optimal cutoff point of the ROC curve, false positives and false negatives are equally weighted; and if there are no objections doing so, the optimal cutoff point of the ROC curve may be a good choice.

An outcome measure for Japanese people with chronic low back pain: an introduction and validation study of Japan Low Back Pain Evaluation Questionnaire.
Development of a nationwide patient-based outcome measure for patients with chronic low back pain (CLBP). ⋯ The JLEQ was shown to be a valid and reliable questionnaire scale for measurement of patient-based outcomes in CLBP patients.
