Multidisciplinary intensive functional restoration versus outpatient active physiotherapy in chronic low back pain: a randomized controlled trial.
Randomized parallel group comparative trial with a 1-year follow-up period. ⋯ Both programs are efficient in reducing disability and sick-leave days. The FRP is significantly more effective in reducing sick-leave days. Further analysis is required to determine if this overweighs the difference in costs of both programs.

Lumbar disc herniation in the Spine Patient Outcomes Research Trial: does educational attainment impact outcome?
Randomized trial with concurrent observational cohort. A total of 1171 patients were divided into subgroups by educational attainment: high school or less, some college, and college degree or above. ⋯ Patients with higher educational attainment demonstrated significantly greater improvement with nonoperative treatment while educational attainment was not associated with surgical outcomes.

A prospective cohort study. ⋯ Outcome definitions that combine ratings from perceived recovery scales with pain and disability measures provide the highest accuracy in discriminating recovered patients from nonrecovered patients.

The security analysis of transpedicular screw fixation in the lower cervical spine and a case report.
This study evaluated the anatomical parameters of the lower cervical spine by imaging methods and reported a case. ⋯ There was an "escaping space" for the vertebral artery and spinal cord. CTSF in the superior part of pedicle was relatively safer from accidental perforation of the vertebral artery than CTSF in the inferior part, and in C6 and C7, CTSF was safer from this injury than in C3, C4, and C5.

The effects of three different types of orthoses on the range of motion of the lumbar spine during 15 activities of daily living.
Prospective cohort study. ⋯ The full, active ROM allowed by lumbar braces evaluated was greater than employed during ADLs in absence of any brace. The motion decrease beyond actual restriction of the braces suggests they will act primarily as proprioceptive guides to regulate movement.
