Retrospective study of surgery for spondylolysis patients. ⋯ Although symptoms were significantly ameliorated in all groups, the bilateral group showed the greatest improvement ratio in JOA score showing bony union to be an important factor in clinical outcome. However, there were a few exceptional cases with contradictory clinical and radiological outcomes. Thus, further studies are required to gain a better understanding of the other multiple factors affecting clinical outcome after spondylolysis repair.

Cost effectiveness analysis for single-level instrumented fusion during a 5-year postoperative interval. ⋯ In the future, surgeons will need to demonstrate cost-effectiveness as well as clinical efficacy in order to justify payment for medical and surgical interventions, including lumbar spine fusion. This study indicates that at 5-year follow-up, single-level instrumented posterolateral spine fusion is both effective and durable, resulting in a favorable cost/QALY gain compared to other widely accepted healthcare interventions.

Prospective cohort study. ⋯ Contrary to previous reports, there was no evidence of consistent posterior osteophyte resorption during 5 years of follow-up.

Cross-sectional observational study to investigate psychometric properties of an adapted Thai version of the refined Scoliosis Research Society-22 (SRS-22) questionnaire. ⋯ The adapted Thai version of the SRS-22 questionnaire had validity and reliability, which can be used to assess the outcome of treatment among Thai-speaking patients with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis.

Are antifibrinolytics helpful in decreasing blood loss and transfusions during spinal fusion surgery in children with cerebral palsy scoliosis?
Therapeutic comparative study. ⋯ AFs significantly reduced intraoperative EBL associated with PSF, with no adverse effects; however, we could not demonstrate significant differences in total transfusion, except in cell salvage. TXA was more effective than EACA in decreasing the EBL and cell salvage transfusion.
