Multicenter Study Comparative Study
Prospectively Collected Comparison of Outcomes Between Surgically and Conservatively Treated Patients with Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis.
Retrospective review of a prospectively collected multicenter registry. ⋯ Surgically treated patients with AIS have improved HRQOL outcomes in several domains compared with age-matched and curve magnitude-matched nonoperatively treated patients at two-year follow-up.
-
A retrospective chart review. ⋯ This study demonstrated a partial or complete union rate of 82% and a postoperative persistent pain rate of 15%. These figures are comparable to the previous study, and this pedicle-screw with wiring technique can be worth trying before interbody fusion for spondylolytic spondylolisthesis to preserve anatomical lumbar motion.
-
Experimental porcine anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) model: a proof-of-concept study. ⋯ This proof-of-concept study provides preliminary evidence of a novel, calcium pyrophosphate-containing, and β-tricalcium phosphate-containing monetite SBG that promotes bony fusion compared with a negative control in a clinically relevant porcine model of ACDF.
-
Retrospective cohort study. ⋯ As utilized in real-world clinical practice, single-level anterolateral versus posterior approaches for interbody fusion have no effect on long-term reoperation rates.
-
Diagnostic test study. ⋯ There was good inter-rater reliability and evidence of criterion validity supporting assessments of EPSD presence using both methods. However, neither method contained all needed EPSD phenotypes for optimal sensitivity, and specific phenotypes were often misclassified.
