Effect of Lumbar Fusion and Pelvic Fixation Rigidity on Hip Joint Stress: A Finite Element Analysis.
This study compared hip stress among different types of lumbopelvic fusion based on finite element (FE) analysis. ⋯ Dual sacral AI fixation led to the highest stress while loosening of S2 AI decreased stress on the hip joint. This study illustrates that more rigid fixation among lumbosacral fusion constructs increases biomechanical stress on the hip joints.

Comparison of Robotics and Navigation for Clinical Outcomes Following Minimally Invasive Lumbar Fusion.
Retrospective cohort. ⋯ Robotics did not seem to lead to significantly better clinical outcomes compared with navigation following MI-TLIF. Although the clinical outcomes may be similar, robotics offers the advantages of reduced radiation exposure, greater screw size, and slightly better accuracy over navigation. These advantages should be considered when determining the utility and cost-effectiveness of robotics in spine surgery. Larger multicenter prospective studies are required in the future to further investigate this subject.
