Retrospective multicenter study. ⋯ Over the past 15 years of CP scoliosis surgery, surgical blood loss, transfusion volumes, duration of postoperative intubation, and pelvic fusion rates have decreased. However, the degree of radiographic correction, the rates of surgical and medical complications (including infection), and health-related quality of life measures have broadly remained constant.

Claims-based analysis of cohorts of TRICARE Prime beneficiaries. ⋯ We found substantial variability across catchment areas within TRICARE for the treatment of LBP. Higher rates of opioid prescription were associated with worse outcomes.

A clinical classification of cervical ossification of the posterior longitudinal ligament (COPLL) was developed based on imaging findings. ⋯ The authors classified COPLL into a system comprised of five types and several subtypes according to canal-OR, location, and morphology. Surgical strategies for each subtype are also suggested. This provides a theoretical guide for the description and surgical management of COPLL.

Comparison of the Safety of Inpatient versus Outpatient Lumbar Fusion: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.
Systematic Review and Meta-analysis. ⋯ Preliminary data regarding the safety of outpatient lumbar fusion demonstrates a favorable safety profile in appropriately selected patients, with PROMs remaining comparable in this setting. There is no data in the form of prospective and randomized trials which is necessary to definitively change practice.
