To compare the mid-term outcomes in intra-articular distal humerus fracture (AO/OTA type C) treated with either open reduction-internal fixation (ORIF) or total elbow arthroplasty (TEA) in patients older than 75 years and with more than five years of follow-up. ⋯ Although there were no differences in mid-term functional outcomes between either treatment, our results suggest that the recent trend towards the use of TEA instead of ORIF in the elderly should be re-examined due to the high rate of complications beyond five years of follow-up with TEA.

The SARS-CoV-2 epidemic started in December 2019 in Wuhan. The lockdown was declared on March 16, 2020 in France. Our centre had to adapt daily practices to continue to take care of bone and soft tissue tumours and emergencies. Through this study, we wanted to assess the various procedures implemented during the lockdown period between March 17 and May 10. ⋯ The COVID-19 epidemic has been a challenge for organization and adaptation to manage all COVID-19 positive and COVID negative. Through this study, we wanted to assess our procedures taken. They had been effective due to the low number of contamination and complications.

Periprosthetic femur fractures (PPFF) distal to a femoral stem are traditionally treated with open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) with plate and screws. To our knowledge, no studies exist comparing outcomes following ORIF vs retrograde intramedullary nails (RIMN) for this injury. ⋯ RIMN is a potential option for operative fixation of PPFF distal to a femoral stem worthy of additional study.

Acetabular bone loss is a challenging problem in revision total hip arthroplasty (rTHA). Severe bone loss is not uncommon especially in periprosthetic joint infection. Surgical options, including revision shells, rings, and cages-with or without bone allograft-are affected by high complication rates and unsatisfactory clinical results. We report our mid-term results of non-flanged, custom-made acetabular components in staged rTHA. ⋯ Custom-made acetabular implants showed excellent clinical and radiographic mid-term outcomes with a low rate of related complications, providing implant stability on residual host bone, restoring hip biomechanics, and allowing biological osseointegration. Further long-term studies are needed to confirm preliminary results.

The COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2) pandemic has significantly affected all aspects of healthcare, including orthopaedics. Due to the unique challenges presented by COVID-19 as well as the distinct timeframes that it will surge in different geographies, much can be learned from the experiences of orthopaedic professionals in many global settings. The goal of this project is to characterize the preparations, strategies, lessons, and personal experiences of orthopaedic trauma surgeons and departments across the world in combating COVID-19. In doing so, we will shed light on current practices and challenges, which may help us manage the current pandemic in addition to preparing for future global pandemics that may arise. ⋯ To our knowledge, this is the largest data set characterizing global COVID-19 situations and responses of orthopaedic trauma practices around the world. There is much to be learned from each of the participants' responses in order to persevere during the current pandemic, as well as to prepare for future pandemics as it relates specifically to orthopaedic trauma practices.
