Patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) may have a higher risk of developing chronic kidney (CKD) compared with general population, but the data on this risk are still not well characterized. This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to comprehensively investigate this association by reviewing all available studies. ⋯ A significantly increased risk of incident CKD among patients with RA compared with individuals without RA was demonstrated in this study.

Chronic prostatitis (CP)/chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CPPS) is one of the four category prostatitis, and the prevalence is over 90-95% in prostatitis. Because of its pain and obstructive voiding difficulties, it severely affects the quality of life of the patient. ⋯ In recent years, phytotherapy and physical therapy have advanced a lot because of the safety, efficacy and high compliance. This review covers phytotherapy (quercetin, bee pollen, pumpkin seed oil, eviprostat, terpene mixture) and physical therapy (acupuncture, shock wave, thermobalancing, transurethral needle ablation, transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation sono-electro-magnetic therapy) commonly used in chronic prostatitis to help the clinician and researchers.

Severe acute kidney injury (AKI-D) is common in critically ill patients and contributes substantially to short- and long-term morbidity and mortality. Acute renal replacement therapy (RRT) is an increasingly widely utilized life-sustaining support strategy for AKI-D patients, providing a bridge to renal recovery in many survivors of AKI. However, key aspects (when and how) of this therapy's appropriate cessation remain unclear. Today, wide variation in clinical practice exists regarding the indication for and the timing of RTT discontinuation, likely due to the poor current evidence base. ⋯ The decision regarding the appropriate time to wean acute RRT is complex, integrating numerous clinical variables and renal functional parameters. Cessation of RRT should largely be individualized in critically ill patients. Large randomized multicentre trials are needed to definitively answer the vitally important question of whether inappropriate discontinuation of RRT in ICU patients with AKI-D impacts patient outcomes. Future work should integrate novel kidney damage and repair biomarkers and techniques to measure real-time glomerular filtration rates.

Ethanol lock is effective on reducing the incidence of tunneled catheter-related bloodstream infections in hemodialysis patients: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
The purpose of this meta-analysis is to evaluate the effect of ethanol lock on the incidence of catheter-related bloodstream infection (CRBSI) in patients with central venous catheters. ⋯ Our meta-analysis suggests that ethanol lock is effective on reducing the incidence of CRBSI in hemodialysis patients with tunneled central venous catheters.

Review Comparative Study
Estrogen therapy in patients with prostate cancer: a contemporary systematic review.
To evaluate the effectiveness and harms of DES in treating prostate cancer compared to other forms of androgen deprivation therapy (orchiectomy, LHRH agonists, and anti-androgens). ⋯ DES might be similarly effective to other forms of ADT on advanced PCa patients, with potential important roles. Intriguingly, the burden of severe cardiovascular toxicity is mainly related to old-fashioned doses of 5.0 and 3.0 mg. Modern PCa hormonal knowledge warrants stout high-quality prospective randomized trials in the low-dose 1 mg DES scenario.
