Subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) from a ruptured intracranial aneurysm is a devastating disease with high mortality and morbidity. The incidence of SAH increases with advancing age. ⋯ Age does not seem to be a significant predictor for cerebral vasospasm after subarachnoid hemorrhage.

The severity of sports-related concussion is often characterized by the number and severity of postconcussive symptoms (eg, headache, dizziness, difficulty concentrating). Although the level of postconcussive symptoms after injury is believed to index the severity of the neurological insult sustained, studies examining the relationship between symptom severity and neural functioning in concussed athletes remain rare. ⋯ The results add to a growing body of literature that demonstrates that functional neuroimaging may have the potential to serve as a sensitive biomarker of the severity of concussion and mild traumatic brain injury.

Microscope-based intraoperative near-infrared indocyanine green (ICG) videoangiography is useful as an adjunct to intra- or postoperative digital subtraction angiography (DSA) in aneurysm surgery. ⋯ Microscope-integrated repetitive ICG videoangiography during AVM and dAVF surgery is fast, easy to perform, and safe. This simple and safe real-time method is a useful additional tool that can potentially lower the surgical risk in complex AVMs and help avoid missed residuals.

Bilateral globus pallidus internus (GPi) deep brain stimulation (DBS) was shown to be effective in cervical dystonia refractory to medical treatment in several small short-term and 1 long-term follow-up series. Optimal stimulation parameters and their repercussions on the cost/benefit ratio still need to be established. ⋯ Improvement in all 3 subscale scores of the Toronto Western Spasmodic Torticollis Rating Scale with bilateral GPi deep brain stimulation seems to be the rule. Refinement of stimulation parameters might have a significant impact on the cost/benefit ratio of the treatment. The dissociation of improvement in posture severity and pain provides tangible evidence of the complex nature of cervical dystonia and offers interesting insight into the complex functional organization of the GPi.
