Effect of Omega-3 Supplementation in Patients With Smell Dysfunction Following Endoscopic Sellar and Parasellar Tumor Resection: A Multicenter Prospective Randomized Controlled Trial.
Endoscopic endonasal approaches pose the potential risk of olfactory loss. Loss of olfaction and potentially taste can be permanent and greatly affect patients' quality of life. Treatments for olfactory loss have had limited success. Omega-3 supplementation may be a therapeutic option with its effect on wound healing and nerve regeneration. ⋯ Omega-3 supplementation appears to be protective for the olfactory system during the healing period in patients who undergo endoscopic resection of sellar and parasellar masses.

There is a paucity of investigation on the impact of spondylolisthesis surgery on back pain-related sexual inactivity. ⋯ Over 80% of patients who present for surgery for degenerative lumbar spondylolisthesis report a negative effect of the disease on sex life. However, most patients (73%) report improvement postoperatively. Sex life improvement was associated with greater satisfaction with surgery. Lower BMI was predictive of improved sex life. In older patients-in addition to lower BMI-lower ASA grade and higher education were predictive of improvement.

A Proposed Grading Scale for Predicting Outcomes After Stereotactic Radiosurgery for Dural Arteriovenous Fistulas.
There are presently no grading scales that specifically address the outcomes of cranial dural arteriovenous fistula (dAVF) after stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS). ⋯ The proposed dAVF grading system incorporates angiographic, anatomic, and clinical parameters and improves the prediction of the outcomes following SRS for dAVF as compared to the existing scoring systems.

Some patients experience long-term declines in quality of life following meningioma resection, but associated factors are not well understood. ⋯ Anterior skull base meningiomas plus resection surgery may result in specific personality disturbances that are highly associated with impaired adaptive functioning at long-term follow-up. These patients may benefit from early counseling regarding potential personality changes and their implications for adaptive functioning.

Usefulness of Noncontrast-Enhanced Silent Magnetic Resonance Angiography (MRA) for Treated Intracranial Aneurysm Follow-up in Comparison with Time-of-Flight MRA.
Flow visualization in time-of-flight magnetic resonance angiography (TOF MRA) is limited for treated intracranial aneurysms owing to magnetic susceptibility and radiofrequency shielding. ⋯ Silent MRA can be useful to evaluate treated intracranial aneurysms during follow-up without radiation exposure and use of contrast material. It is characterized by higher diagnostic performance and superior visualization for the treated site.
