To validate the predictive performance of the THRIVE, ASTRAL, and iScore scales for clinical functional outcomes following mechanical thrombectomy (MT) for acute ischemic stroke (AIS). ⋯ The iScore is a reliable tool for assessing the poor prognosis of MT in patients with AIS.

The aim of this study was to investigate the value of point shear-wave elastography (pSWE) in the measurement of iron overload in the liver and other visceral organs in patients with beta thalassemia major (BTM). ⋯ Hepatic, pancreatic, splenic, and renal pSWE values were significantly higher in the patient group compared to the control group (p ≤ 0.001, < 0.001, 0.014, 0.026, respectively). In the patient group, hepatic pSWE values established a significant correlation with cardiac T2* values, liver size-T2*, pancreatic pSWE values, serum ferritin levels, and age (p = 0.006, < 0.001, 0.001, 0.042, 0.001, 0.032, respectively). In the ROC analysis, the area under the ROC curve was 0.807 for hepatic pSWE in the discrimination of thalassemia patients and healthy controls, and the cut-off value was 1.42, which gave a sensitivity and specificity of 75.7% and 75%, respectively. CONCLUSıON: Point shear-wave elastography can be a useful technique in the clinical measurement of iron overload in the liver, pancreas, spleen, and kidney.

Attention Deficit-Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder, often persisting into adulthood. ⋯ The results show that adults with ADHD have decreased functionality and worse QoL when compared against those presenting with a similar symptomatology, but no ADHD diagnosis. ADHD is not just a behavioural disorder in childhood, but a lifelong condition with accumulating problems that can lead to lower QoL and impaired functioning throughout adulthood.

Confronted by the many barriers and deficiencies which currently face those responsible for the training of doctors, the concept of a logic model applied in real time may seem aspirational. However, several of the necessary of logic-based practices are already in place - these include quantified training effect and performance, learning analytics, and applied reflective practice. A nationally or internationally co-ordinated effort is required to harness these disciplines (which currently exist disparately) to create a sustainable and effective training system which is adaptive to its own performance and to society's changing needs. This will mean making better use of the data currently being generated by and around training, and its presentation in a timely and comprehensible form to the person(s) who is responsible, prepared, and able to use it to best effect.

Neuregulin-1(NRG-1) is a protein that belongs to the group of epidermal growth factors. It plays vital roles in anti-fibrotic effects on the myocardium. The current paper explores the role of NRG-1 in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and its relation to atherogenic index as a factor for increasing cardiovascular disease(CVD) risk. ⋯ We proved low NRG-1 levels in diabetic patients and the association of highest NRG-1 amounts to a better AIP. Moreover, the measurement of NRG-1 levels could be beneficial as laboratory markers to monitor for increasing CVD risk in type 2 diabetes mellitus.
