Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are tissue-specific and highly stable and may serve as early molecular markers of adverse pregnancy outcomes in patients with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). ⋯ Aberrant expression of lncRNAs was strongly associated with the adverse pregnancy outcomes in GDM.

A near miss event (NME) in healthcare is an event that did not happen but would have caused serious harm if it did. The operating room (OR) is prone to risk and incidents, with estimates that 50% of all hospital adverse events occur in the OR, yet reporting of NME is uncommon in the OR. ⋯ The implications of the findings for improving healthcare safety are discussed and in particular the adoption of the science of Human Factors Ergonomics into healthcare.

Necrotising fasciitis is a devastating infection characterised by rapidly progressing necrotising infection of the superficial fascia with secondary necrosis of the overlying skin. ⋯ Differentiating cellulitis and necrotising fasciitis can be difficult when presenting signs and symptoms are non-specific. If not treated quickly with antibiotics and debridement of the infected tissue, the patient may develop septic shock within hours.

Neurodegenerative diseases (ND) are disorders of the central nervous system (CNS) characterized by impairment in neurons' functions, and complete loss, leading to memory loss, and difficulty in learning, language, and movement processes. The most common among these NDs are Alzheimer's disease (AD) and Parkinson's disease (PD), although several other disorders also exist. These are frontotemporal dementia (FTD), amyotrophic lateral syndrome (ALS), Huntington's disease (HD), and others; the major pathological hallmark of NDs is the proteinopathies, either of amyloid-β (Aβ), tauopathies, or synucleinopathies. ⋯ AF has the potential to predict 3D-protein confirmation at an accuracy level comparable to experimentally predicted one, with the additional advantage of precisely estimating protein interactions. This breakthrough will be beneficial to identify diseases' advancement and the disturbance of signaling pathways stimulating impaired functions of proteins. Though AlphaFold has solved a major problem in structural biology, it cannot predict membrane proteins-a beneficial approach for drug designing.

Review Meta Analysis
The effect of Empagliflozin on echocardiographic parameters in diabetic patients after acute myocardial infarction: A systematic review and meta-analysis with trial sequential analysis.
Patients with diabetes mellitus (DM) are at higher risk of cardiovascular events, particularly acute myocardial infarction (MI). Sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors (SGLT2i) can improve cardiac outcomes among heart failure individuals, however, the effects on acute myocardial infarction remain unclear. This meta-analysis investigates the impact of empagliflozin in diabetic patients following acute myocardial infarction. ⋯ Empagliflozin initiation in diabetic patients following acute MI may improve echocardiographic parameters. However, empagliflozin might not be effective in heart failure prevention and optimal glycemic control in this patient population. Further large-scale trials are warranted to ascertain our findings.
