COVID-19 infection is a major cause of acute telogen effluvium.
Acute telogen effluvium is a non-scaring hair loss, usually occurs 3 months after the stressful event that causes hair shedding, and lasts up to 6 months. It can be associated with post COVID-19 infection. ⋯ COVID-19 infection is now a frequent and a common cause of acute telogen effluvium. Hence, clinicians should be aware about the relation between this infection and this pattern of hair loss. Drugs that have been used for the treatment of COVID-19 were excluded as a cause of acute telogen effluvium.

Iodine-131 is an effective treatment for thyrotoxicosis. In 2019, National Institute for Clinical Excellence guidelines (UK) suggested offering radioactive iodine as first-line definitive treatment for adults with Graves' disease, toxic nodular and multinodular goitre unless it is unsuitable or anti-thyroid drugs are likely to achieve remission. The aim of this study was to evaluate the clinical outcome 1 year after using fixed-dose Iodine-131 for hyperthyroidism and time (months) to response. ⋯ The results of the present study demonstrate that a single fixed dose of Iodine-131 therapy is highly effective and comparable to outcomes from calculated dose therapy in literature. We propose the routine use of scoring system to calculate risk of relapse for all newly diagnosed hyperthyroid patients to tailor treatment modality.

The COVID-19 pandemic has put considerable strain on healthcare systems. ⋯ A diagnosis of COVID-19 was associated with significantly increased mortality and LOS but represented only 3.5% of admissions and did not attenuate the established temporal decline in overall in-hospital mortality.

High resting heart rate (RHR) is associated with multiple morbidity in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) patients.
