Can teleconsent improve patient recall of surgical risks in knee arthroplasty? A randomised controlled trial.
Informed consent plays a vital role in managing patients undergoing knee arthroplasty (KA). Unfortunately, patient recall of informed consent remains poor. Evidence has suggested that telemedicine and teleconsent can be safe, cost-effective, and well-received by patients. The primary aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of an additional preoperative teleconsent session on patient recall of surgical risks 1 month after knee arthroplasty. The secondary aim was to assess its impact on patient satisfaction. ⋯ The additional preoperative teleconsent session had no significant effect on the risk recall rate but improved patient satisfaction. Our findings suggest education level may play a role in information recall. We can advocate for the increased use of teleconsent and telemedicine in patients undergoing KA or any elective orthopaedic procedure due to its perceived positive effects on patient satisfaction rates.

Effect of cognitive behavioral stress management on anxiety, depression, and quality of life in colorectal cancer patients post tumor resection: a randomized, controlled study.
Cognitive behavioral stress management (CBSM) is a psychotherapy helping individuals develop adaptive behaviors, whose application in colorectal cancer (CRC) is rare. This randomized, controlled study intended to explore the effect of CBSM on anxiety, depression, and quality of life in CRC patients post tumor resection. ⋯ CBSM program alleviates anxiety, depression, and elevates quality of life in CRC patients post tumor resection.

Effects of concentrated beetroot juice consumption on glycemic control, blood pressure, and lipid profile in type 2 diabetes patients: randomized clinical trial study.
While the prevalence of type 2 diabetes (T2D) is growing worldwide, dietary intake plays a remarkable role in the management of disease complications. Evidence suggests that beetroot has health-promoting potentials, including anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antidiabetic properties. Therefore, the present clinical trial aimed to investigate the effects of concentrated beetroot juice (BJ) supplementation on anthropometric measures, glycemic control, blood pressure (BP), and lipid profile in T2D patients. ⋯ Our study showed that daily consumption of 24 ml concentrated BJ did not affect the levels of glycemic measures, blood pressure, and lipid profile. More studies are necessary to confirm these findings.

Reminiscence therapy is a feasible care program for improving cognitive function, anxiety, and depression in recurrent acute ischemic stroke patients: a randomized, controlled study.
Reminiscence therapy provides benefits among first-episode acute ischemic stroke (AIS) patients and their caregivers. This study intended to further compare the effect of reminiscence therapy plus usual care (RTUC) and usual care (UC) on cognitive function, anxiety, and depression among recurrent AIS patients. ⋯ RTUC program elevates cognitive functions and alleviates mental problems in recurrent AIS patients.

Effects of clinical pilates exercises in patients with chronic nonspecific neck pain: a randomized clinical trial.
Neck pain is a common musculoskeletal problem in adults. Clinical pilates exercises can be beneficial managing the pain and improving the risk factors. ⋯ NCT03782584 retrospectively registered December 20 2018.
