Refeeding syndrome is characterized by metabolic and electrolyte alterations that result from the initiation of feeding after a period of inadequate caloric intake. Especially, in the elderly with acute and/or chronic illness, nutritional deficiencies are common, and diminished oral intake with effects of catabolic status yields malnutrition. This study was conducted to evaluate refeeding hypophosphatemia and its consequences on outcomes in the oldest old critically ill patients. ⋯ Refeeding hypophosphatemia incidence was similar to previous studies, although study patients were the highest risk group. Outcome parameters including mortality rate and length of ICU stay were not different between patients with or without refeeding hypophosphatemia.

Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is a type of peripheral entrapment neuropathy and common for the patients with psoriatic arthritis (PsA). Shear wave elastography (SWE) is a new ultrasonography technique that can be used for diagnosing CTS, but not studied in PsA patients. ⋯ We found that SWE has a good diagnostic value for CTS with PsA patients; hence, we can conclude that SWE could diagnose CTS in PsA patients.

Antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) is a systemic autoimmune disorder characterized by persistent antiphospholipid antibodies (aPLs) with arterial and venous thrombosis and/or pregnancy morbidity. In recent years, several studies have highlighted the potential role of non-criteria aPL in diagnosing APS patients. ⋯ Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is the most commonly associated disease with APS, being present in approximately 35% of cases [1]. Since the majority of the patient group in our study had APS that was secondary to SLE, non-criteria antibody positivity may be linked to the immunological activity of SLE. Large multicenter studies are necessary to investigate the clinical significance of isolated/combined positivity for criterion/non-criteria aPLs.

To investigate the differential expression of vascular related ceRNA regulatory genes in LGG with different mutations of IDH1 and MGMT, and to verify imaging gene markers that can be closely associated with vascular related ceRNA regulatory genes. ⋯ Under different IDH1 mutations, lncRNA-dominated vascular-related ceRNA regulatory genes were the first differentially expressed subset of each group, and could be used as an effective risk factor affecting the survival of LGG. The image characteristics of LGG was an ideal image gene marker. It was a reliable imaging biological marker which can truly reflect the pathophysiological characteristics of glioma.

Spinal cord Tumor has been characterized as a heterogeneous disease consisting of many different subtypes. The early diagnosis and prognosis of a cancer type have become a necessity in cancer research, as it can facilitate the subsequent clinical management of patients. The importance of classifying cancer patients into Bening or malignant has led many re- search teams, from the biomedical and the bioinformatics field, to study the application of machine learning (ML) methods. ⋯ A variety of these techniques, Logistic regression, Support Vector Machines (SVMs), Decision Trees (DTs), Random forest classifier(RFs) have been widely applied in cancer research for the development of predictive models, resulting in effective and accurate decision making. Even though it is evident that the use of ML methods can improve our understanding of cancer progression, an appropriate level of validation is needed in order for these methods to be considered in the everyday clinical practice. In this work, we have discussed a predictive model based on various supervised ML techniques.
