Effect of roflumilast on chronic obstructive pulmonary disease: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) of roflumilast effect on chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) have been reported in the last decade. The current meta-analysis was designed to systematically review and perform meta-analysis of the RCTs of roflumilast treatment in COPD. ⋯ These findings indicated that roflumilast treatment could improve COPD patients' lung function and reduce exacerbation, and that inhibition of airway inflammation by roflumilast might contribute to the beneficial effect of PDE-4 inhibitors on COPD.

Prevalence of pulmonary hypertension in systemic lupus erythematosus: a meta-analysis.
Pulmonary hypertension (PH) has been suggested to be associated with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). However, the results of prevalence studies on PH in SLE vary substantially. To derive a more precise estimation on the prevalence of PH in SLE, a meta-analysis was performed. ⋯ PH is prevalent in SLE patients, but it was significantly different between different gender, age, regions, year of publication, and diagnostic methods.

Association of NUDT15 c.415C>T allele and thiopurine-induced leukocytopenia in Asians: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
Thiopurines, commonly used to treat autoimmune conditions and cancer, can be limited by life-threatening leucopenia. However, whether NUDT15 (nucleoside diphosphate-linked moiety X-type motif 15) is associated with thiopurine-induced leucopenia in Asians is controversial. ⋯ The results of this meta-analysis confirm that NUDT15 c.415C>T may be an important predictor of thiopurine-induced leukocytopenia in Asians. Genotype targeting of NUDT15 c.415C>T before initiating thiopurine treatment may be useful to limit leukocytopenia.

Are beta-blockers effective for preventing post-coronary artery bypass grafting atrial fibrillation? Direct and network meta-analyses.
Atrial fibrillation is the most common arrhythmia in clinical practice and is a major contributor to mortality. Recently, several studies have reported different results for treatments aimed at reducing the risk of postoperative AF. ⋯ The network meta-analysis revealed no significant differences among eight types of BB treatments but did provide a ranking. BB treatments could significantly reduce the occurrence of post-CABG AF. Insufficient evidence was available to show that one BB treatment was more effective than the others were. According to our network meta-analysis, bisoprolol and landiolol+bisoprolol are better alternatives compared with the other treatments.
