Randomized Controlled Trial
Evaluating the effectiveness of localized sub-Tenon's anesthesia in 23-gauge vitreoretinal surgery.
To evaluate the effectiveness of localized sub-Tenon's anesthesia for pain control during 23-gauge vitreoretinal surgery. ⋯ Localized sub-Tenon's anesthesia is as effective as retrobulbar anesthesia in many steps of vitreoretinal surgery for providing pain control. It can be considered an alternative form of local anesthesia.

Randomized Controlled Trial
Outcome of "treat and monitor" regimen of aflibercept and ranibizumab in macular edema secondary to non-ischemic branch retinal vein occlusion.
To compare the efficacy of a modified PRN treatment regimen ("treat and monitor") of aflibercept and ranibizumab in macular edema secondary to non-ischemic branch retinal vein occlusion. ⋯ "Treat and monitor" regimen is a real-life effective strategy in improving visual acuity after macular edema from branch vein occlusion and in reducing the number of injections.

Randomized Controlled Trial
The effect of povidone iodine flush versus drops on conjunctival colonization before intravitreal injections.
To determine the most effective method of applying povidone iodine 5% to decrease conjunctival colonization before intravitreal injections. ⋯ Irrigating the conjunctival fornix with 5% povidone iodine results in greater reduction of bacterial colonization compared with drop application of the same solution. Flush irrigation may provide better protection against the risk of endophthalmitis with intravitreal injections.

Randomized Controlled Trial Clinical Trial
Ocular hypotensive effect of sublingual administration of timolol.
A randomized clinical, trial to assess ocular hypotensive effect of sublingual administration of timolol was performed. ⋯ Sublingual administration seems to be a new interesting way for reducing the IOP. Long term studies are required in order to test efficacy and safety of this new treatment.
