Temporal pattern of emotions and cognitive load during simulation training and debriefing.
In the simulated clinical environment, there is a perceived benefit to the emotional activation experienced by learners; however, potential harm of excessive and/or negative emotions has also been hypothesized. An improved understanding of the emotional experiences of learners during each phase of the simulation session will inform instructional design. ⋯ Participant emotions are significantly altered through the experience of medical simulation and emotions are associated with subjective ratings of cognitive load.

The World Health Organization has identified many barriers to improving the health of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) patients, including challenges to incorporating and teaching about healthcare for such patients, which we call "sexual and gender minority" (SGM) health content. These challenges include structural and logistical barriers to incorporating SGM health content into undergraduate medical curricula, as well as lack of support in identifying high-quality pedagogical methods for teaching this material. Here, we provide twelve tips for incorporating and teaching SGM health curricular content in undergraduate medical education, including resources and strategies to support individual educators. Based on our success in developing and implementing this content, we believe that our approach can be effectively used by individual educators aiming to incorporate SGM health curricular material into their teaching, and to support individuals or groups championing the inclusion of a SGM health topical sequence in medical curricula.

Professional burnout among medical students: Systematic literature review and meta-analysis.
This systematic review and meta-analysis aim to summarize the available evidence on the prevalence of professional burnout among medical students. ⋯ This review underlines the burden of burnout among medical students. Future research should explicitly focus on specific context factors and student group under investigation. Such efforts are necessary to control for context-dependent confounders in research on medical students' mental health impairment to enable more meaningful comparisons and adequate prevention strategies.

There are concerns that the use of social media (SM) among medical students could affect academic performance. The objectives of the study were to investigate the pattern and reasons for SM use and their association with academic performance. ⋯ While almost all the students used SM, only a minority used them for academic purposes. SM use was not associated with academic performance.

The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between WhatsApp on academic performance among Saudi medical school students at the University of AlBaha and the University of Dammam. ⋯ WhatsApp usage showed no relationship with the academic performance among Saudi medical students in both the universities. However, the usage of WhatsApp could be cautioned to minimize the social media addiction on various aspects of life.
