Clinical and angiographic results of coiling of 196 very small (< or = 3 mm) intracranial aneurysms.
Coiling of very small (< or = 3 mm) aneurysms is considered controversial because of technical difficulties and a higher rate of procedural aneurysm ruptures. In this study, we report clinical and angiographic results of coiling of aneurysms 3 mm or smaller in comparison with larger aneurysms in a large, single-center cohort of patients. ⋯ Coiling of very small aneurysms was technically feasible, with good results. Although procedural aneurysm rupture was significantly more frequent in very small aneurysms, this did not lead to increased overall morbidity and mortality rates. Retreatment rate was lower than for larger aneurysms.

Usefulness of susceptibility-weighted imaging for voxel placement in MR spectroscopy.
MR spectroscopy is used to provide in vivo biochemical information about cerebral metabolites. Magnetic field homogeneity secondary to anatomic interfaces, hemorrhage, or necrosis may lead to suboptimal MR spectroscopy. Susceptibility-weighted imaging (SWI) can identify field inhomogeneity and could be used to guide MR spectroscopy voxel placement, leading to higher-quality MR spectroscopy examinations.

Review Case ReportsImaging findings of extraventricular neurocytoma: report of 3 cases and review of the literature.
Extraventricular neurocytoma (EVN) is rare entity with similar biologic behavior and histopathologic characteristics to neurocytomas that occur in the lateral ventricles, according to the 2007 World Health Organization classification. We report the cases of 3 patients with extraventricular neurocytoma, which presented as large tumors in the left frontal and parietal lobes and in the sellar region. MR imaging showed cystic degeneration, calcification and/or hemorrhage, intense enhancement, and perilesional edema. EVN should be considered in the differential diagnosis for large, heterogeneous, enhancing brain tumors that occur in young people.

Case Reports Controlled Clinical TrialSeverity analysis of neurovascular contact in patients with trigeminal neuralgia: assessment with the inner view of the 3D MR cisternogram and angiogram fusion imaging.
Neurovascular contact (NVC) of the trigeminal nerve is not only detected at the affected trigeminal nerve in patients with trigeminal neuralgia (TN) but is also observed at the asymptomatic nerves on the side contralateral to the TN as well as in normal nerves in control subjects. The frequency and severity of the NVC among the affected, contralateral, and normal trigeminal nerves were analyzed by 3D MR cisternogram and angiogram fusion imaging in relation to the cause of TN. ⋯ Severity analysis of the NVC with the inner view of the fusion MR imaging may provide useful information in the diagnosis of TN and can be a helpful adjunct in treatment planning for patients with TN.

Preoperative embolization of cerebral arteriovenous malformations with onyx.
Preoperative embolization facilitates the surgical management of complex cerebral arteriovenous malformations (cAVMs). This analysis aims to investigate the risks for preoperative cAVM embolization with Onyx. ⋯ A considerable risk for a permanent neurologic deficit remains for cAVM embolization with Onyx. The risk has to be carefully weighted against the benefit of volume reduction in the treatment of cAVMs.
