Aberrant midsagittal fiber tracts in patients with hemimegalencephaly.
In hemimegalencephaly, MR imaging often reveals midsagittal bandlike structures between the 2 lateral ventricles. To determine whether these structures are aberrant midsagittal fibers, we retrospectively reviewed them on conventional MR imaging and prospectively examined them by diffusion tensor MR and fiber tract (FT) reconstruction imaging. ⋯ Aberrant midsagittal FTs running intra- or interhemispherically do not infrequently exist in patients with hemimegalencephaly.

Our aim was to investigate the extent and severity of changes in spinal cord diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) parameters in patients with cervical cord injury. ⋯ DTI parameters are sensitive markers of cervical cord injury, with ADC showing the greatest sensitivity. Changes in DTI parameters are most marked at injury sites and reflect the severity of cord injury.

Comparative StudyWhite matter abnormalities in mild traumatic brain injury: a diffusion tensor imaging study.
Traumatic axonal injury is a primary brain abnormality in head trauma and is characterized by reduction of fractional anisotropy (FA) on diffusion tensor imaging (DTI). Our hypothesis was that patients with mild traumatic brain injury (TBI) have widespread brain white matter regions of reduced FA involving a variety of fiber bundles and show fiber disruption on fiber tracking in a minority of these regions. ⋯ Patients with mild TBI have multiple regions with reduced FA in various white matter locations and involving various fiber bundles. A minority of these fiber bundles show discontinuity on fiber tracking.

Multicenter Study Clinical TrialRevascularization results in the Interventional Management of Stroke II trial.
Our aim was to detail revascularization results, including impact on outcome and mortality, in the Interventional Management of Stroke (IMS) II trial. ⋯ IMS II provides evidence that the EKOS Primo sonography microcatheter exhibits a trend toward improved recanalization of the occlusion compared with a standard microcatheter and again confirms the correlation between recanalization and reperfusion with good clinical outcome and reduced mortality.

Comparative StudyDetection of aneurysms by 64-section multidetector CT angiography in patients acutely suspected of having an intracranial aneurysm and comparison with digital subtraction and 3D rotational angiography.
Four-section multisection CT angiography (MSCTA) accurately detects aneurysms at or more than 4 mm but is less accurate for those less than 4 mm. Our purpose was to determine the accuracy of 64-section MSCTA (64MSCTA) in aneurysm detection versus combined digital subtraction angiography (DSA) and 3D rotational angiography (3DRA). ⋯ In comparison with the available literature, 64MSCTA may have improved the detection of less than 4-mm aneurysms compared with 4- or 16-section CTA. However, the combination of DSA with 3DRA is currently the most sensitive technique to detect untreated aneurysms and should be considered in suspicious cases of SAH where the aneurysm is not depicted by 64MSCTA, because 64MSCTA may occasionally miss aneurysms less than 3-4 mm size.
